Hello guys!
On this video, we can see that Jolla ported SailfishOS to the Nokia 3310 (2017) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ps6-6CD8UfA Meybe some devs / gurus can give us some information about it? Are the sources avaiable / will they be avaiable ? Wchich flasher-tools are used to got Nokia 3310 reflashed etc. I would be very interested to sse Sailfish on the Nokia 3310 (2017). It would be really cool... |

It has been stated that it's NOT the 3310 many times in different videos. If you compare it to the original (new) 3310, you can see that there are major differences like the screensize. Please follow this topic: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=100221 Oh and you should edit your thread title to avoid confusion. |
Re: SailfishOS on Nokia 3310 (2017)
Sorry but thats not a NOKIA, its a feature phone which is NOT made by nokia at all. :(

Re: SailfishOS on Nokia 3310 (2017)
Actually... does it really matter much which brand it is? Isn't it more exciting how they managed to make a UI designed for touch screens work on such a device?
Also, I'd be very interested to learn about the minimum system requirements they're aiming at. They said "LTE capable feature phones" - what does this translate to nowadays in terms of RAM/CPU? |

There is an Original, made by HMD and a couple of cheap Chinese fakes with a smaller screen. Correction: It really looks like a fake Nokia 3310 with a smaller screen... |

I think, they made the same way like they modified the UI for the LG Smartwatch. SailfishOS is very modular. You can just made another uI on top of Mer.

I guess noone raises any doubt on the quality of the porting; but rather the disappointment to not have the NOKIA label on that phone. |
Re: SailfishOS on Nokia 3310 (2017)
Talking about battery life:
I have IP7 as work phone ans SFx in my pocket also , If not used IP is superior , like for weekends . If really used I can use IP' s battery in one day and in bad coverage areas , IP is eating battery like wolf. I was some weeks ago travelling by train , usef SFx for internet and IP7 for calls ( work) in the evening both almost died. And after all I used SFx for net maybe 4h and IP7 for talk one hour during day. The problem is power saving , but if really used like bullzoser , I would not like to pay for IP7 my self. |

Here we can see the differences between fake Nokia 3310 (2017) and original (HMD made) Nokia 3310 (2017)

Re: SailfishOS on (Fake) Nokia 3310 (2017)
There is a difference between resource hungry and suboptimal power management.
Granted, it makes no difference why sailfish drains same hardware faster, but my guess is there is room for improvement in driver usage etc. The bottleneck is engineer power to optimize hadk imho. |
