Nokia Mini Android Prototype
Hello everyone. Today I was able to take a look on a very odd device. A Nokia prototype running Android. The phone has the form of an iPod Nano 7th gen but without a home button . Model was rm-1026. Android version was 4.3, and had a custom launcher where you could like draw a letter on the interface and showing you the apps starting with that letter.
Construction was aluminium, micro-usb and nano sim card. Anyone having more information about this? |
Re: Nokia Mini Android Prototype
Dimmensions were most appropiate to a car key. Like an Audi remote.

Re: Nokia Mini Android Prototype
The Android launcher is very similar to z launcher, but in an early development state . The more interesting fact is about the device, it was so small for an Android device ...

Re: Nokia Mini Android Prototype
Has anyone seen a device like this so far?

Re: Nokia Mini Android Prototype
Any picture from you? It would be interesting to see it.
So I suppose the size is like a smartwatch. |
Re: Nokia Mini Android Prototype
I was not allowed to take pictures..... it is bigger than a smartwatch, it is almost the same size, maybe a little taller than ipot nano 7th gen.
It was made of Aluminium , on the front was the screen up top and on the bottom part a speaker grill. The nano sim and usb port were on the upper part of it. Camera was without flash, no nokia logo, on star-up a “NAU” logo. On back were engraved prototype , imei no and RM-1026 |
Re: Nokia Mini Android Prototype
I've only heard rumors of a device, but nothing I could point towards that would assist on your search.
Funny how many things actually exist as a prototype but rarely ever come out as a product. Seems like a smaller device would have been a hit amongst this crowd here - the Android would have been a hard sell though. |

So cool! Pity it was buried.

Re: Nokia Mini Android Prototype
Wow, that looks nice, akin to last year's Unihertz Jelly perhaps, but much more premium looking.
Any indication of roughly when it was made? I guess Android 4.3 gives some indication... And was it destined to be a later model in the (old) Nokia X range? Does it run the full set of Google Play services or the arrogant we-can-do-this-on-our-own Nokia X platform that obviously never got any traction? |
Re: Nokia Mini Android Prototype
Pretty nice! But I see it better suited as mp3 player than as a phone...or using old school T9 instead of a virtual qwerty keyboard :)

No google play services, only Chrome installed and a bunch of qualcomm test apps. It was probably made in 2014 or so. I will post later a few more pics, stay tuned :). |

Re: Nokia Mini Android Prototype
So ... who do we pay to get this made with a more modern chipset in?

Re: Nokia Mini Android Prototype
Don’t know but I would buy one. Reminds me of old Sony Xperia Ray...awesome device then...
