Chrome OS Tablets can run Linux, making the dream of OTG GNU/linux a reality. The tablet in question runs an OP1 arm processor, you could easily build a smaller tablet with Chrome OS. I hope a 7", 7.9", or 8" chrome os tablet with stylus comes out.

It's run by Google's OS. That's not a dream by any sane standard.

Dream for some. (Overly surveilled) nightmare for others.

In the end, the interoperability might end up being a gateway into proper Linux if only the ****ing software was more compelling than the freedom.

You can strip out the surveillance components just like you could on Ubuntu.

There's a difference here. On Ubuntu, the operating system was still functional without the tacked-on surveillance. If you strip out the surveillance from Google's offerings, they're barely functional at best.

Also Chrome OS uses linux Drivers, so you could install other Linux distros on Chrome os devices.

Chrome OS is just a derivative of Gentoo Linux. However it's lacked the ability to install regular applications, but due to it being Linux, Crouton enables running Linux distros in a container. The drivers should be the same as a regular linux distro.

I do believe, that eventually Chrome os will replace android all together. We will have Chrome os TVs, smartwatches, in vehicle, smartphones, and so forth. Chrome os will achieve what Ubuntu, Tizen, Meego and Sailfish have yet to achieve, a true linux os for every device.

I mean one that's commercially successful and widely used. Meego, Ubuntu and Sailfish failed in that regard and Tizen only achieved modest success.

Meego and Ubuntu Mobile no longer exist, but Sailfish and Tizen are still actively developed and have been 'alive' for a lot longer than the first two. I don't think you can say they've failed if they haven't even started.

My goal has always been the same; avoid pedantic, semantics laden arguments whilst on the Internet.

With that said, the "a true Linux" conversation will ultimately be dragged into esoteric knowledge around licensing, kernels, blobs or theory. Sadly, none of that ever really mattered to the layman.

Nor will any of the above. This will be all forgotten one day.
