WebDav/CardDav/CalDav on N900
 

Hello N900 Lovers!

Finally I decided to use my N900 again. :) I hate analdroid!
The only problem with maemo is, that I cannot use my fastmail webdav service with it! I already set up the imap service, but I also have carddav, caldav and webdav service on fastmail. How can I solve this? I want my N900 back!!!!

For those who give me advice to use the seach menu, I already did it! I need fresh info from daily users!

frankly I never focused too in depth on the n900...
(shy of a couple things)
my forte is/was the n8x0's...

I am sure another will have the answers ...(possibly)...that you need...
and will chime in with as much smart-assery as I tend to ..and point you in the right direction...

He is very new here...and has a lot to learn...
But if anyone will set themselves on fire ..
and pull out a stopwatch ...
to time how long it takes to burn to ash...

what you need ...
But he has this mad mad desire to know how stuff works...
and I bet he will give it a real good college try ...(and possibly have answers for you in the process)

I'm not familiar with WebDav, but afaik it boils down to some user mount stuff.
It seems like there are basically two ways to implement this on the client side:

1. via GUI using gvfs
2. via TUI using davfs2

According to wiki.ubuntuusers.de [1], major graphical file managers (including PCManFM, which comes with Easy Debian) should be able to handle CalDav after installing gvfs-backends.
So in principle, this should be one easy way to mount WebDav resources. However, since in ED Systemd doesn't work, and I don't know what's going on under the hood in gvfs, this might not actually work.

davfs2 on the other hand should work. It seems there has been a way to get it running directly unter Maemo. [2] It's not totally clear to me if this still works, doesn't work, works again. :confused: Probably just ask in that thread!
davfs2 in ED should work however.

As for CalDav/CardDav, there seem to be ways to get this running in Claws Mail [3][4], although my links might not present the most favorable ways of doing it.
There is an ancient version of Claws Mail available for Maemo, which might or might not be compatible. In Debian Jessie (ED) there is a slightly less outdated version.

I used syncevolution back then.

Worked with caldav and carddav from owncloud for a long time.

AFAIR I had a script, which would (re)configure syncevolution. Maybe I can still find them - the n900 and the script.

I'm using syncevolution linked to my owncloud. I would guess you should be able to hook it to your card/cal dev servers too.

Thanks a lot! I would like to try it, but I dont know how can I use this script for syncevolution. I have the gui one and I have never used without it. I understand your script and I will correct it to my cloud service provider. So could you tell me how should I make it?

Just a quick update, you should be able to just point to it in terminal then run the script.

so cd to script, /home/user/MyDocs/
then run one of the following
sh n900sync_generic.sh
or bash n900sync_generic.sh
or ./n900sync_generic.sh
