Camera phone competition October 2019: Portrait
Inspired by last month's winner, and lovely Maemalians, the theme of the month is portrait, so take a portrait of a cat, a statue, or someone, or something.
Rules are as usual: Photos must be taken during this month (after theme is announced) and posted before voting starts. Photos must be taken by the posting member. Photos must be taken with a camera phone. Post processing is allowed but you have to say what you did. Users must name the phone and software they used. Users post only one photo per entry. Users can change the entry only once. 3 day voting period starts on October 28th at 20:00 UTC and ends on the evening of October 31st. |

Unfortunately I forgot about the contest, when I took this pic last week with my E-M10. So not my entry, but I think it's worth sharing, although the model doesn't look very happy... and she also wasn't very cooperative with her quick moves.

@catbus: Is this middle of nowhere in Finland? My most middle of nowhere church has been Pielpajärvi church. If not seen it one should. People can google it.

Re: Camera phone competition October 2019: Portrait
Let's call it "Portrait of the Artist as a Very Young Man"
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...14b77fb9_o.jpg 20191018_201718 Xperia X, stock Sailfish camera, taken under the "Friday night lights". His sister had just finished a cheerleading mini-clinic and the band was on the field for halftime. I was turned to my left, asking Thing 1 about her bowhead experience, then turned back to Thing 2 to find he had persuaded the man behind him to let him try his SLR. He managed to take several good pics, too! Sure a DSLR does all the technical work, but most of his previous photographic attempts were snapshots of feet and floors and fingers . . . |

I stand corrected. "The creation and accomplishment of this 18-meter long colossus took more than three years of work and 75 tons of Guatemalan beige marble!" https://www.artistics.com/en/birth-a-giant |

My models where noncooperative.
Meet Hilde & Sternchen in their usual cautious near run away mood. I tried everything to get one of them to hold still for more than a second but no chance. Taken with XA2, cropped with gimp. https://mosushi.de/misc/photocomp/IM...026_172921.jpg |

I never understood the concept of a rabbit as a pet. Rabbits are food, not friends!

I really did not want to do this, but I was kind of forced to.
A portrait of yours truly, taken just a few seconds ago, on Jolla 1, front camera. Rotated in Gallery since the TMO uploader does not understand picture rotation tags. Attachment 40752 |

Re: Camera phone competition October 2019: Portrait
#8, pichlo
as seen by Jolla :D |
Re: Camera phone competition October 2019: Portrait
#1. kinggo
Because theme of the month was not Selfie. ;) |
Re: Camera phone competition October 2019: Portrait
Best portrait goes to kinggo
Best scene goes to robthebold Most interesting location goes to spfoo and my vote goes to pichlo :D |
Re: Camera phone competition October 2019: Portrait
I have had zero time lately ..
and so sadly didn't submit my entry... I would put my vote for the furry entries... But a show stealer came in at rhe last moment... And so ... have to vote for the ugly mug too. + 1 for pichlo @ eson... It is a "selfie" ...yes...you are right in that... But...this month's competition is "portraits"... And pichlo's entry is certainly that. |
Re: Camera phone competition October 2019: Portrait
#5, spfoo "18m long Guatemalen sculpture"
|

My vote also goes to #1 kinggo. Even though I am not exactly a fan of cats. But the picture quality is just awesome and, oh boy, those irises... so... mesmerizing! |
Re: Camera phone competition October 2019: Portrait
@pichlo You are going to win anyway. I just thought that someone have to disagree. ;)
|
Re: Camera phone competition October 2019: Portrait
My vote goes to 8. pichlo "Self Portrait".
I love rotated gallery pictures. |
Re: Camera phone competition October 2019: Portrait
#5 spfoo
But have to say that #6 is something worth framing and putting on the wall. The contrast, the L/R symmetry, then again symmetry of circles on the ceiling because he positioned himself so good..... |
Re: Camera phone competition October 2019: Portrait
Unfortunately I missed thos month competition. Next Month I'm in again.
My vote goes.of course to pichlo! |
Re: Camera phone competition October 2019: Portrait
And in all the commotion, I forgot how many bullets that was . . . and also to vote.
So it's 1. kinggo |
Re: Camera phone competition October 2019: Portrait

But as a husband and father... ;) I even quit the delicious comments about their horse some time ago tho they still pop up in my mind every time i see it. As an effort to overcome my cat dislike, i vote for 1# Kinggos very crisp shot and admit i wanted to recreate a similiar picture with the rabbits. And failed :D |
Re: Camera phone competition October 2019: Portrait
Rabbit is good.
Bear is good. Deer is good Elk is good. Wild boar is good. Porcupine is good. Skunk is good. Moose is good. Cow , chickens, ducks and geese are good. Living up north ...living on a farm... I have had them all. As a youngster it is a hard hard thing to even contemplate sitting down and eating childhood playmates... But thankfully I was raised to appreciate their time and their purpose in the scheme of the food chain. As an adult I fully understand ...and see the sacred in being part of the process ...rather than just someone at the supermarket getting their "cut" prepackaged in cellophane .. Which divorces humanity from being ...well...human..... All of them are tasty if prepared properly I love all my dogs and cats...past and present But as the quasi-immortal Mel Gibson once said in a movie... https://i.postimg.cc/PfV3yXCT/04e312...4e73b1c-wm.png I am sure my cat would be tasty too. It is all in the prep. Of course I am not planning on it and bookmarking recipes... I doubtless, as with past companions.. Would feel absolutely horribly devastated at their passing... All that being said... Eddie and Cat-O and I have an understanding... If an apocalyptic end of the world happens ...and we survive...and then miraculously run out of the 2 year supply of food we have stored...then to spare them both... Eddie is on the menu first...since a 30 lb dog properly cooked and seasoned should last Cat-O and I a long time... And because Cat-O doesn't eat as much... is a diligent mouser...catching up to 5 mice a day from the woods...and bringing 2 or 3 back alive to the door for me... So Cat-O can provide a decent subsistence existence for the both of us ...until things get a little lean and he starts looking tasty... The likelihood of some horrible calamity like that occurring is slim at best. More likely is the prospect of me choking and dying on breakfast or dinner.. And that is where they have my complete permission to chow down on my corpse if no one comes by timely to check on me. I wouldn't want them to go hungry...and it isn't like I would mind ...being departed from my mortal frame. So thats our arrangement. Love all my companions...dearly... Give them tons of affection and playtime... And a stressless environment.. But never let them get fat..or too lean.. Not good for their health... Not good for the meat either... |
