Story of a rookie with an N9: starting from scratch

Hello! I am a new user of the Nokia N9.

I bought this phone a long time ago, but now I will be able to start using it.

I would like to share my progress: my successes and mistakes, as they arise. I think telling this will be good for me and for other people. I hope that in a while this thread can contain a lot of useful information.

I use the translator, I hope you can understand me well.

Be aware that any of the map data to be found upon EMMC.bin is considerably older than last available 2015 data.

Thanks, what difference does it have with respect to the other EMMC files?

What are EMMC files for?

You only need it to wipe the partition layout or erase old user data. So kind of 'format c:'.
Or you want some of the default provided data like some pics, a video? and old, very old map data (of Ireland in that case).

If it is a used one I would just overwrite the emmc whith that. There is also one emmc.bin out in the wild (original from Nokia) without any map data and just some low amount of data. But it does not really matter, just delete map data later.

This the latest : PR1.3
and 001 is the global release of that version (lowest number)

So all good, do not change their to anything else!

Hi, I have already configured the system settings and played the great game GOF2.

I have installed N9 RepoMirror and Warehouse. I have a mobile phone connected to WiFi, but Warehouse cannot connect to the Internet.

What could be the problem? Warehouse still running?

The error is:

"Network connection error".

Just checked upon one of N9's and you are quite correct that can't fetch any repositories now although doesn't elicit "network connection error" in my case, however remember there are now certificate issues with stock browser to access "Openrepos", see here:http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=115

Now it won't let me install Warehouse (neither version). N9 RepoMirror is installed.

I have tried to install Warehouse offline and online, without success.

The error is this:

"Error downloading. The certificate for this installation package has expired. Check the time settings of your device and if the problem persists, contact the provider of the package."

The date I have put on the phone is 2011 and I have also tried 2014.

What I can do?

As the last available map data for N9 was April 2015 why not try that. Must say that i always leave developer mode enabled, although you must alter password from default value of "rootme"

You got it right! I have set the date of April 30, 2015 and I have already been able to install Warehouse.

It is the first time that I need to set a higher date, normally it is necessary to set an older date.

How can I change the password "rootme"?

Hello, I have put the map files in the correct location:

cities / diskcache

But Maps does not load the maps. I have tried offline and online mode.

What could be the problem?

Since Nokia turned off maps server it can't download a few kb's of data necessary to establish your position. The only way I can recommission maps upon a reset N9 is to transfer data off a device where maps activated before server was turned off. I have seen claims that flashing EMMC with data sufficient, but this never worked for me.

Thanks, that file I have been able to install it. With this browser I can enter the forum. The bad thing is that the pages are very small, as in desktop version. Another bad thing is that warnings are always displayed that the certificate is not secure.

You can't use this anymore as Nokia servers turned off a long time ago. What are you searching for?

Inception
Ariadne

These are things that can be used in secure mode, right?

I installed Aegis reading this:
