Advanced osso-xterm
 

It does not seem to be available for OS2008?

Is there a source tarball available so I can compile it? Or do I need to d/l it from cvs or subversion?

The 'normal' xterm allows you to change the background color but not the foreground, unless I've missed something...

When you choose the font there is a selection for font color.

You can change the foreground (font) color by just editing the font choice. There is a color well in there.

But still, the new xterm is less readable than the old one without another choice for a font and you can't zoom out as much and are thus forced to use small terms. :-(

That's just because the "advanced" package just required installation of the the bitstream-vera fonts which it used. You can install them seperately via this package for OS2008 and enable them in xterm:

Better yet, you can add any Truetype fonts you want to your tablet by just copying the .ttf files to /usr/share/fonts/ and restarting the tablet (or rebuilding the font list). The "droid" fonts from Googles Andriod OS look great in OS2008 and xterm. :D

I got error message from application manager when triying to install the bitstream-vera fonts from the above link.
Application manager log shows following error message:

hildon-application-manager 2.0.1
/usr/bin/dpkg-deb -f '/var/tmp/ttf-bitstream-vera_1.10-7_all.deb'
Package must have "Section: user/FOO" to be considered compatible.
FAILED: deforma

Can someone fix that package?

Just install it via apt-get: this will install the missing package as well:
Once done, you need to reboot before you can change the font in xterm settings.

Someone (and I had intended it to be me, still might) needs to provide a theme editor which modifies your current theme's font and font size to one you select.

BTW, are the Droid fonts available in a small download or is it a case of getting the whole SDK? Are they shippable separately under their licence? A nice .deb in extras-devel for NIT-users would be very cool.

I just downloaded the Android SDK but I can't seem to find any fonts in there. What's the filename I should be looking for?

I grabbed http://benno.id.au/android/system.tar.gz

They're in system/fonts in this package.

Any idea how to do it without rebooting?

I thought fc-cache -f would do the trick, but it looks like there's more necessary.

Unless I'm messing with the kernel, I hate rebooting :)
