Have you tried Transmission or Nicotine for p2p?

Lots of things would be easier if we had a functioning java on the N800.

Transmission is bittorrent, and Nicotine is Soulseek (I think). Limewire is Gnutella, which I do think is better for some purposes, so it would be nice to have. Frostwire is a decent java-based Gnutella client - we could probably port that if we had java.

For Gnutella there is a project nammed Gtk-Nutella :

It s depends from : debhelper (>= 4.0.0), libglib2.0-dev, libgtk2.0-dev, zlib1g-dev (>= 1:1.1.4), libxml2-dev (>= 2.6.0), gettext, libgnutls-dev, libdbus-1-dev

So it should be compile on OS2008

Java always seems like a resource hog though. Maybe a port of Qtella would be better... ?

Napster = free listening to any music you want, with web connection. Blows away pandora. Its pretty good, just nothing like original napster P2p.
