BZFlag?
It sure would be nice to have BZFlag (http://bzflag.org/) running on the N800. (Would make for a great WLAN-party for N800/N810 owners)

Re: BZFlag?
To show how serious I am: I offer a kilogram of Swiss chocolate to anyone who gets bzflag running (to a usable level) on the Nokia N800 Internet Tablet! (OS2008)
Any further offers? |
Re: BZFlag?
Well, thanks for that... I can make it work on my Kubuntu system (netcat -t [host] [port]), but I cannot make it work on the N800 using the equivalent (netcat -T [host] [port]). It just comes back to the command line, after a short delay.

Re: BZFlag?
Ralph, would running in a Debian chroot count? I'm betting that's really easy...

Re: BZFlag?
Bzflag requires opengl and it's not going to work with usable speed.

(Hmm, using the N900's accelerometer to steer with would be v. cool too.) |
Re: BZFlag?
Does the offer for 1kg of good swiss chocolate still holds if the port works on an N900? :)
(no, don't get your hopes up: I don't even own an N900 yet in order to work on the port :)) |

Steering via the N900's accelerometer earns extra credit. |
Re: BZFlag?
OMG nice bounty. Well bzflag tends not be very complex atleast comparing to something like q3 and such. But I would add a clause that it needs to run in atleast medium quality setting if not high.
Would be nice having it around like that. Though I think there'd be to much latency for it to be really usable. But being a cop on one of the servers it would atleast make it possible to respond to complaints quickly. |

Re: BZFlag?
I'd be for all access methods. Lag will be in all cases more or less un-acceptable for most servers.
Hell even some broadband links cause unacceptable lag. |
