Adventure game?
Is there any adventure game already on the tablet?
This could fit as it shouldn't be too cpu intensive. |
Re: Adventure game?
SCUMMVM supports a good lot of adventure games.

Re: Adventure game?
Thanks
Works without network? Cause sometimes I don't have internet under my rock. |
Re: Adventure game?
Games like kings quest and curse of monkey island series are Ultimate classics, try those on scummvm. I beat those way back in the day, full of puzzles if you like puzzles. And many hilarious moments too (monkey islands). But yea other than those I think we should find some open source non emulator needing adventure games. Like Relentless!!

Re: Adventure game?
Hey, free, you should really try a few SCUMMVM games. (Monkey Island, Indiana Jones series, Gobliiins - works beautifully in the IT and it's still a lot of fun, Full Throttle - if you can get ahold of the full version).
I've even played Leisure Suit Larry on the IT, but without the USB keyboard it's a PITA. I've been playing these few in the IT and it's incredible how well crafted these oldies goldies were. |
Re: Adventure game?
Ah yeah you're right. I'll try this.
Leisure Suit Larry! Thanks for the list of games. |

Re: Adventure game?
Ah thanks I remember going there once.
I'll look again. |
Re: Adventure game?
There's also the original (_really_ original) version, from the seventies.. I remember it from the eighties when I got access to a minicomputer.

Re: Adventure game?
For text adventures, you can play hundreds of commercial and independent titles with Gfrotz (The classic infocom games Zork, Wishbringer etc) as well as 'adventure' and a ton of story-based games.
Gfrotz (gtk/hildon): http://www.users.on.net/~cwarrensmith/n770/#gfrotz Frotz (xterm/ncurses): http://pupnik.de/frotz.html For the Lucasarts games and other scumm games of course there's scummvm. For the Sierra adventures there's a WIP called 'freesci' http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...hlight=freesci |
Re: Adventure game?
Yeah, maybe so, but they're not THE original interactive fiction granddaddy of all modern computer games... Even Zork, which was pretty cool, wasn't Crowther's original Advent.
I guess we could run the Palm version under Garnet. Kinda kludgey... |

From the URL you linked, "This is the original game as written by Willie Crowther and expanded by Don Woods. ... an Inform version by Graham Nelson, based on the above TADS code. An Infocom interpreter is required to play this version." |
Re: Adventure game?
Ha, you're absolutely correct. After a bit more digging, I found a .z5 file for the original 350 point version using frotz. Very cool!
I remember playing it on a PDP-11 at UNH right after it was written. Now I can run it on my IT 30 years later! How cool is that? Thanks!! |

Re: Adventure game?
I had a look around and found that Piero Orsoni and Luca Donaggio had ported Magnetic for the 770.http://www.opbyte.it/maemo/
There do not seem to be any updates. I was going to try Kronos (magnetic and frotz combined) on garnet but the instructions say all game files need to be on a memory card and garnet does not support these. Links to versions of Magnetic http://msmemorial.if-legends.org/magnetic.htm I am going to try the Nintendo versions once I prise a DSlite off one of the kids. |
Re: Adventure game?
I have a fairly nice setup to play all of the Magnetic Scroll games for those who still have an older, N800 tablet.
Full screen hardware key brings up the keyboard. Once you press Enter on the virtual keyboard, it sends a Return signal then closes it. http://img715.imageshack.us/img715/2...2022000593.png http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/1...2022001022.png If anyone is interested, I can package this together. :) |

I'm not even going to say anything more than just posting the URL. Enjoy:
