Did you put the keyboard in pairing mode?

AFAIK, the palm keyboard is just a standard Bluetooth HID device and no special driver is needed. I used to have a Palm Bluetooth keyboard and it connected fine with Bluez on my desktop as well as Windows XP (Windows Stack, I believe). I also connected a standard (Logitech) Bluetooth keyboard to the Nokia without problems (yeah Bluetooth standardization!).

The Palm BT keyboard is really just an OEM version of this one, isn't it? http://www.darfon.com.tw/2005_HTM/HID/Portable_G950.htm
It has HID and SPP profiles.

From pictures it looks similar to HP ipaq bluetooth foldable a.k.a. Stowaway Shasta a.k.a. MSI BK100

In case it does not work in HID mode try kbdd in SPP mode with btfoldable or freedom driver type, see http://fanoush.wz.cz/maemo/#kbdd

I am using one right now. HID, no driver req'd.

To pair, I think it's something like this:
  • Hold BT button on keyboard, until BT light flashes. You now have 30 seconds to complete the rest, so step lively.
  • Tell the N800 to search for devices.
  • Select the keyboard
  • Enter a new passcode, or keep the suggested one.
  • Hit OK
  • Type that passcode on the keyboard.
It's been a while since I had to pair it, so not real sure on details, but it's something like that, and it definitely requires no [extra] drivers.

I puchased an MSI BK100 from deal extreme. It just came in the mail today and seems to work pretty well with my Diablo n810. A few notes in case you're thinking of picking one of them up (they're cheap):
* It comes with a little printed documentation booklet, but it's entirely in Chinese. Don't buy if you really want proper documentation
* The driver CD that comes with it also contains only Chinese documentation
* I've only used it for a few minutes, but the speed at which the characters appear on the "Notes" application seems a bit slow; ie. I type very fast, and sometimes chunks of words will appear on the screen, whereas on my laptop, I can't possibly type fast enough to not see each character appear independently
* That said, the keyboard is reliable, in that it doesn't lose any characters

I mostly followed these instructions to get it to work, but with a few caveats. When I typed "hcitool scan", it wasn't found. Use "./btkbd scan" instead to find the address. In the config file, modify BDADDR according to what the scan revealed. Uncomment the KBTYPE option, but don't change it's value. Everything else in the instructions is correct.

One more note: in order for the install_shortcut.sh script to create a working shortcut that you can use to connect and disconnect the keyboard easily, you must have the "becomeroot" package installed, so that you can use "sudo gainroot". The script depends on that.

I'm not sure if your keyboard is the 3245WW model, but If yes, you DONT need any additional drivers.

Just follow these steps :

And everytime you need to use it, just unfold it (make sure BT is active, you dont even need to be visible), and press a key ...

You may need to use "setxkbmap" command to change the keyboard layout if you are not using the default US layout.

FYI, Buy.com is offering the Palm 3245WW Bluetooth Keyboard for $10 with free shipping. If it does actually work with the N810, this is an exceptional deal.
