Live TV on Internet Tablet
It is possible to get live TV streamed over the internet to the N800! The people here
have figured out that mobitv.com has unsecured feeds up and listed the URL's. These URLs if typed into the browser on my N800 cause the default media player to open and play the feed perfectly, no problems. If you go to the end of that thread you will find that several more channels have been discovered, and I discovered that by changing part of the url (CDMA to EVDO) you can get higher quality. By bookmarking them on my N800 I now have mobile TV (and since the feeds are intended for cell phones they should work on most net connections.) I would post the info here but there is A LOT of stuff, so it is probably better to just go to Howard Forums for the URLs. Because of the nature of the way this works (and the fact that the thread got posted on Slashdot earlier) there is no way to know how long this will continue working but it works now. Anyone else know any good sources for online TV feeds??? Hope everyone else finds this useful too! :) Patrick |
Re: Live TV on Internet Tablet
Odd it doesn't work for me. It just tells me it didn't detect any media.

Re: Live TV on Internet Tablet
Works for me (n800/OS2008) and very much cool (while it lasts)

Re: Live TV on Internet Tablet
Interesting...not the greatest quality on the tablet, but cool on my N95! Thanks.

Re: Live TV on Internet Tablet
Worked for me, at least msnbc did.

Re: Live TV on Internet Tablet
Hmmm, I just went to check a few channels and it seems like it may be coming down already - the better quality EVDO versions all seem to be redirecting to an ad for mobitv, and many of the low quality versions seem to be down altogether. We will have to wait and see, but that diden't last long..... :(

Damn :(
It wasn't that good while it lasted (didn't see the EVDO streams) :) but hey - nice to have it there. |
Re: Live TV on Internet Tablet
And Its Back! - Problems I cannot solve tick me off. So, after banging my head against it - here is the answer:
the URLs are now in the format: rtsp://live.mobitv.com:554/b9ab1/##-CDMA.sdp where ## is for the channel #, and if you replace CDMA with EVDO on SOME channels you get a higher quality version. After all the controversy this sparked on HOFO I understand if the mods take this down, but I figured I would share - makes up for all the things I have learned here. Heres to hoping they don't find us in our quiet little corner of the 'net, huh? Patrick EDIT- Lets keep this here, or at least, please don't post in that HOFO thread - I am going to PM some people there but I am trying to keep this quiet so the links stay up for more than a day. |
Re: Live TV on Internet Tablet
Kinda cool, I guess. Did anybody see all the content in the ch 400 range? Lots of kid stuff.

Re: Live TV on Internet Tablet
And Its Down Again, as far as I can tell. Sorry to say. If I get any further info, I will post it up....

Re: Live TV on Internet Tablet
do you have the modified metadata.db.
if you do then you are good to go. you can do a search on here for the file. and just make a backup of the one on your device. and replace it with the one you find on here. |

I never bothered replacing the default, when mobitv cut it off. and I gave it a try the other day and it works again. replacing the metadata.db will get rid the list of the music on your device. the dude on the original release thread said it should repopuplate itself with the music on your device after a restart. (but i guess that was a maybe.) but that doesn't seem to be the case. original thread. http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ht=metadata.db |

Thanks. It is very easy. Just dl the .db into MMC and cp into ~/.meta_storage and play with media player, http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ht=metadata.db, thread #6. It works. Fire up media player, view library>video you will see all the channels, pick the one you see. Streaming is very good. Audio is fine. Video is marginal at best. Thanks. I wish I can see the EVDO version :(, oh well bun |
