add shell program to list or laucher

I installed a debian program (used qt4) that I currently start from the shell prompt. Is there a way to add it to the pogram list or to laucher?

Thanks
Jeff

I'm really thrilled with the Command Navigator app. It installs as a navigator bar icon (in my case, I've replaced the "Contacts" icon by editing /home/user/.osso/hildon-desktop/tasknavigator.conf). The app lets you assign arbitrary commands to menu items.

See:

Oh, what's the Qt4 app you've installed? I've worked a bit on porting several Qt4 apps to the tablet--the KDEPIMPI suite, qstardict, keepass, etc., but the projects could really use some help from a more experienced developer.

Another option is Kerez from http://david.hautbois.free.fr (version 0.0.5-1). It doesn't have the "double xterm window" issue, and it has the ability for you to add options prior to launching.

Im not really a developer, more of a tinkerer. I follwed the directions for installing qt4 and downloaded my program from the debian repos. The program is qbrew, a homebrfewing application. It wasnt teribbly difficult either, althouth the program complained about some dependencies not being the correct version. It worked without the correct version either way.

I've also been using Kerez for awhile now to organize and run my many shell scripts/command line tools - Works great, simple GUI :D

For anyone running KDE on their N8x0 - it works there too.

I tried the recommended apps, but its not quite what Im looking for. I´m looking to either add the app to the menu or selecting it from a ¨dropdown¨ menu. Is there anything along those lines? Thansk for the good recommendations though.

My favourite way of doing this was John Costigan's (gnuite, of maemo mapper fame) modified version of the "load applet" (load-applet-run). I used it ever since OS2005, but I don't know if it's been ported to OS2008, or if one of the existing versions can be used (the 2006 version did run under 2007).

You can add an item to the main menu by creating a .desktop file in /usr/share/applications/hildon/. Just copy and modify one of the existing ones. You need root permissions for that b.t.w.

Or use pipeline's Linkmaker, great tool.

qwerty12,
Do you happen to have a link for linkmaker? I'm having trouble finding it. Thanks in advance.

I use osso-statusbar-cpu, though cmd-navigator appears to be much better. I think I'll soon ditch osso-statusbar-cpu...
