Persistent bluetooth keyboard pairing
I have managed to pair a logitech bluetooth keyboard to my N810. It then shows up in the list of paired devices and I can use it just fine. But after I power off the N810 and turn it back on, even when the keyboard is in discoverable mode, I have to delete the device, and go through the pairing all over again to be able to connect and use the BT keyboard.
What is the trick to getting the pairing to persist and automatically reconnect after both the N810 and the keyboard have been turned off and then back on? |
Re: Persistent bluetooth keyboard pairing
In my case with igo keyboard if I haven't powered off, then all I have to do is turn on bluetooth then the keyboard and am set to go.
If I have powered off then I activate bluetooth, turn on keyboard and tap the bluetooth status bar icon, tap bluetooth settings, tap devices, (at this point I will see my keyboard with the key icon next to it, I ignore it) tap edit, select connect and then approve my way back out. Still a pain but easier than re entering the code. |
Re: Persistent bluetooth keyboard pairing
cant really help as my freedom universal pairs up the moment i turn on power on it while bluetooth is on for my N800. hell, i have at times gone "oops, forgot the bluetooth" and it will still pair up if i do it in time.

When you say "If I have powered off then I activate bluetooth", what do you mean. The BT icon is always in my status bar. Do I have to do something to activate it? |
Re: Persistent bluetooth keyboard pairing
I was referring to turning bluetooth off and resetting the tablet. So Never mind.
Are the batteries in the keyboard strong and making good contact.. It sounds as if you can connect but the connection breaks. Is there some other radio device nearby that interferes? |

Re: Persistent bluetooth keyboard pairing
I am having a similar problem with my N800 and my iGo stowaway keyboard. It pairs up initially, and the BT icon on the N800 is 'blue'. If my N800 goes into screen-darkening standby, the BT connection is dropped. If I try to reconnect, it fails. I even tried following the exact procedure given by WoodyS in message 2 of this thread, and the pairing always fails.
Seemingly, the only way the iGo and N800 play well together is if I: 1. open an xterm window. 2. `sudo gainroot` 3. `rm -Rf /var/lib/bluetooth/<my nokia's mac address>/` 4. turn the N800 off. 5. turn the N800 on. 6. activate bluetooth and set up a new BT device 7. BT "discover" and pair with the iGo keyboard as a trusted device ...and then, everything works fine, until it stops working (which is usually when the N800 has gone to 'sleep'), at which point it's a simple matter of just starting at step 1 above and doing it all over again. It's really quite convenient!! NOT |

Re: Persistent bluetooth keyboard pairing
I don't know what your background is, but I'm quite used to going months and months and months on end without having to reboot a linux box.
JUST to use my BT keyboard, I have to reboot the N800 daily!!! I should be able to go months and months and months of `uptime` on this device, too. ...not just 15 to 20 minutes! This needs to be fixed. If the device is a "trusted" device, it just needs to sync up as soon as BT is enabled on the N800, and that's all there is to it. I shouldn't have to do anything other than Ctrl-Fn-Fn on the iGo to get it beaconing... everything else should be automatic. It's not. It's a bug. the box with the shortest "uptime" at home: [root@mitra ~]# uptime 13:46:18 up 393 days, 15:12, 4 users, load average: 0.26, 0.44, 0.42 my N800: /home/user # uptime 13:48:51 up 24 min, load average: 0.34, 0.14, 0.15 |

By any chance the diNovo Mini http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/ke.../3848&cl=us,en If yes, how good is it working together with the N810 (except the BT pairing issue)? Did you get the touch pad working? |

Re: Persistent bluetooth keyboard pairing
I have an iGo Stowaway Sierra, and I've never had any trouble of the kind reported here.. I paired it once, the day I bought it, and haven't had to redo that operation. That was more than half a year ago. I've rebooted my N800 several times since that, even reflashed (with restore). I just turn on BT (with switchonbt), open the keyboard and press a key a few times, that's all.

Re: Persistent bluetooth keyboard pairing
So disconnects have to do with the keyboards not the Tablet? I too, have constant disconnects that only a reboot will cure.

Re: Persistent bluetooth keyboard pairing
FWIW, Palm 3245ww, here. When I try to reconnect the keyboard, I don't put it in pairing mode; I just tap a key (it turns on with any key press), and it reconnects. Sounds like some people on here might be confused and putting the keyboard in pairing mode, which makes it forget its previous pairing.

MrDowntempo offered this solution here for the pairing problem.
