Nine Inch Nails: Ghosts I-!V (40 new Background images)...

NIN recently released Ghosts I-IV, an instrumental concept album... With it comes a 40-page booklet. If you like NIN, you can download the first nine tracks (out of 36) for free, including a digital version of the booklet (which is basically an image for each song).

I've taken some time to convert ever page of the booklet to 800x480 Background images, usable on the Internet Tablets. The Zip file is a 17MB download, but it's well worth it.

Download the Zip file here.

For more info about what Trent Reznor wants to do with Ghosts, watch this.

Enjoy,
Tim

Thanks Tim!

I downloaded the tracks last week and love what Trent Reznor is doing with this project. This is the future of music, were the artist distributes his own music sans the monolithic record companies.

Cheers!

Well, I gave him five eurobucks. I'd given more, but it's all instrumental, so...

Joking aside, the best stuff is past track nine.

Well, if you were going to give stuff away free, you would want the good stuff to be the bit you charged for!

But yes, I thought it was worth paying for too.

That was a depressing soundtrack to listen to when you had left the quake CD in the drive and it was just playing!

I was dating a goth chick back then. NIN repeatedly got me some...

Edit: Thanx, Trent!

(And no, I'm not a goth. I just like black )

Man, I love track #31. It simply kicks ***.

And, Karel... you're totally right. It goes radically uphill after track 9.

I couldn't resist and as soon as it got out, opted for the deluxe version ($75).

And if I hadn't been a dad recently, I would surely have bought the $300 version. If there's an artist that truly deserves it - especially with the "business" model he opted for - it's Trent.

I was totally convinced so after having watched Tool (my then favourite band) live, being disgusted by their overall attitude (and I had seen them before, and had loved the previous concert) and then watching NiN live for the first time a few weeks later... They played 3 gigs on 3 straight days here, and I had the luck of being able to watch them all. Trent and his crew were simply incredible, even playing through a major lighting failure on one occasion.

Actually, by doing the maths, I can pretty much pinpoint my kid's conception to the concert's date :P

So there you go, my kid's a NiN fan for life :)

Also, in what was Trent's first "test drive" into digitally releasing music on his own, check out Saul Williams' "Niggy Tardust". It's different, but has Trent's paws all over, and it's a very good album as well, even if you're not much into the kind of music Saul usually made.

Hey, has anyone successfully downloaded/decompressed the Zip file I made? I couldn't -- arg! Could someone try it (on their IT) and let me know if I need to upload a new file?

Thanks,
Tim

Thanks for the zip of the images Tim :D

I too love this "New" way of distributing albums - Radiohead did the same sort of thing on their last album- offered free downloads and took donations. I still bought the CD when it was released.

I'm loving the NIN tracks so far - I've also bought the download. Reznor is genius!!

As a "goth chick" (although I prefer the term "Darky") I find all your "NIN as an aphrodisiac" comments quite amusing - not off base at all. My husband can still get lucky if Closer or Perfect Drug is played within ear shot. However, the same can be said for pretty much anything Tim Burton and/or Johnny Depp related too.

EDIT: Yes Tim - I've successfully DLd and decompressed the images :D

Thanks, Tim, the dl and unzip worked perfectly for me. I became a NIN fan thanks to my son, who already downloaded every other NIN track for free, and he predicted this would become the model for the release of new music but cutting edge artists like Reznor. I haven't actually listened to the new album but will as soon as I am able. Meantime, great pix, thanks.

Thank you for this. I stopped following NIN when Trent lost the EBM sound, so it's nice to hear what he's doing now.

Its amazing what difference a continent makes. You would never call a goth a darky in the uk, as the phrase is only ever used by an older generation (my grandparents generation - 70/80+) to refer to people of african or Jamaican descent.

That and noone would know what you were talking about!
