What, you want people to thank you for adding ANOTHER repo to the mess? Push them to Extras-(devel) if you want to play nice with the community. . . .

What's the problem with having another repo ?? You are a little rude at him.

I personnaly thank him to give us the possibility to install GNU Clisp ! :)

Wow, I'm totally going to judge your comment and point out that the poster was just trying to help. I'll also proceed to state that I wish that there was a "no thanks" button so that I could click it. How rude.

Hmm when I add it, it say the repo cannot be found. You do add this line right?

:)

Let's not have the repo discussion again, we just had that one.
GA's post seems a bit rude but he does have a point.

On the other hand I am thankful for every effort anybody puts in the maemo platform.

I spend a bit of time trying a number of combos in the Application Manager. I ended up going to the site, downloading everything (unsing Free Download Manager in Windows), putting the debs on a SD card, and am currently installing them manually.

Hmm.. says the super mario war is an incompatible package.. bummer.

Re: Just here! my new Reopository for chinook

I installed it in Red Pill Mode, but couldn't figure out how to get to the point to start playing it as there are a few screens to select options from. If I spent more time maybe I could have figured it out.

From what I've seen of these packages, they are not Hildonized and do not make desktop launch entries (i.e. they can be launched via a terminal, or a desktop file can be made for them, or they can be launched via Personal Menu.)

First time... apps... clisp, maxima and gnuplot all are shell applcations...
And yes, no one stay... Hildonized ...
You need use red pill mode to install...
In time when this apps stay Hildonized... I go to garage... :P

SMW, Freeciv uses SDL... not needs Hildonized...

FreeCiv needs some changes to be playable. You don't have right and middle clicks after all.

I greatly appreciate the effort at bringing new packages in -- I'm a lisp fan, so clisp especially is :D -- but would like to point out a couple things.

First, GA is right; you do need to get these in extras-devel or extras; this is independent of whether you use garage or not.

Second, some of these are already built; at least powermanga, and there's a garage project for freeciv, although no releases. It might be more profitable to work with (or take over, if defunct) the existing project than to start from scratch.

ArnimS did a build of super mario war that works fine in chinook.

OK! I go see it and move to extras/extras-devel ... in time I build keylaunch for maemo with thi we can emulate right and left mouse clicks... using it with freeciv or others soft, I can play without any change to freeciv code...

I compiled lasted freeciv and smw... be free to use or not... :(

Re: Just here! my new Reopository for chinook

If packages need red pill mode it's usually because the Section: tag in the control file is wrong, it needs to be Section: user or Section user/<whatever> for the package to be installable from application manager in blue pill mode.
(This is a normal problem when doing straight ports from desktop Debian - the Section: line has to be changed).

Re: Just here! my new Reopository for chinook

While I understand that there is a big push to get all of the goodies into Maemo/Extras, I still feel Anunakin deserves at least a fat "Thank You" for posting a debian package of a decently-working version of Gnuplot! I couldn't even get the thing to compile, yet he has done it complete with WXWidget support. Thanks!
