Maemo logo and definitions

Hi,

There is an ongoing work of definition of the Maemo word and related terms. You might want to have a look at https://wiki.maemo.org/Task:Maemo_brand

The current proposal puts all the weight in "Maemo" and defines "maemo.org" as an identifier of the Maemo community. The current logo would evolve into a "maemo.org" (again) but this time it would be produced and maintained by the community, like the rest of visual design and user experience of the maemo.org website (and now I will stop writing marketing buzzwords).

In this context it would make a lot of sense to have a logo contest open to everybody. See the proposal at https://wiki.maemo.org/Task:maemo.org_logo_contest

Please post your feedback in the wiki, signing in with your usual maemo.org login. Or do it here if you are lazy, we will follow up.

Please read the wiki page you are linking to. It starts saying in bold letters:

"This is a proposal under discussion, related to Task:Maemo brand. You can help deciding whether the contest is appropriate, and in which terms."

I was precisely asking for opinions about the Maemo brand proposal and the related proposal of organizing a logo contest.

not exactly in the same league...but the doctor where i was before well he decided 1000 mgs of glucophage wasnt going to hurt it did...lost 20+lbs in a month...nice diet...painful for some areas on the body:o

Leaving it up to us and offering a prize, is that a bad thing?

This is a competition for the maemo.org logo, the logo for the community website, therefore it's only fitting that the community should be the ones who design the logo.

Sorry, I should have phrased that differently. I really didn't mean to sound like I was complaining. In fact, I meant the opposite. One of the big reasons I bought my tablet is because I knew I wouldn't be stuck with a few default programs; the fact that Nokia encourages the community to help was one of the deciding factors for me getting one of these. Otherwise I could have got an iPod Touch. HAHAHAHAHA. Ok, don't want to start a flame war. And I added "Wonder if I should even bother entering..." referring to my not-so-great artistic abilities. Didn't meant to sound like an idiot.

Hi.
I've read in the Wiki that I was suggested as one of judging persons for the contest. (I'm behind tabletui.wp.com. But not me alone, many usefull and interesting topics are posted there by many members of the community).
It's aa great honor to me to have such a reputation, but I was actually hoping to participate the contest. But if you insist I'll take my role and won't submit my variants to be as much objective as I can.

I'd rather we saw more, good, logos and eliminate a potential judge; than have a poorer selection of logos and an educated judge :-)
