USB Control in Diablo

Has anyone successfully installed the Maemo USB Control application in Diablo? I have tried and get an "incompatible application package" error - even in red pill mode. I just got my FtoF USB adapter last week to connect a keyboard and only got to enjoy it for a few days before Diablo was released.

OK, I finally reinstalled python2.5-Runtime and now it seems OK.

Re: USB Control in Diablo

I installed USBControl on my Diablo N810. It installed with no problems and runs perfectly. I didn't have to reinstall the python2.5-Runtime either. The only thing is I'm wondering what the "OTG" button in USBControl is for. (I know that "Host" is for connecting slave devices to the N810 and that "Peripheral" is for connecting the N810 to a computer.)

Re: USB Control in Diablo

Anyone here can guide me to install USB Control on Diablo?

I already tried several ways. and none success..

Install directly from maemo.org failed!
Install python 2.5 runtime failed!
Install eko1.install for becomeroot failed!
Install USBHost failed!

So how I suppose to do? I need either USB Control or USB Host works on my N810. I installed Diablo since the first time N810 on my hand.. I have no backup before.

Many Thanks!

Re: USB Control in Diablo

Hello Bard, I had no problem at all on my N810 which is running the latest OS and updates. Maybe it's time for a complete re-flash/reinstall of the OS. AND install all of your apps by hand. Don't use the automatic application re-installer that appears when you install the latest OS. It screwed up my N810 and I had to start over. I installed each app that I use individually, and my little friend is running like a dream.

Re: USB Control in Diablo

I manage to make USB Control works on my N810.

I just realized that USB Control already installed on my N810 when I use App manager to install many installable app, the only problem USB control not active because I miss 1 important file, it is USB OTG plugin. I found it yesterday at garage maemo, once I install it, USB Control works very good :)

I did just what Bard did but it does not work !

Application Manager fails saying "Incompatible applications" without any details !

I have tried to desintall USB OTG plugin but the result is the same !

I have the same problem when trying to install GPE Sudoku ??

No problem with all the other installations !

Re: USB Control in Diablo

Desiderius, I had some difficulty in getting it to work, though it was quick to get working. Specifically, I had to remove and reinstall both those components in order to get it functioning. I made a text file of the process in order to remind myself in case I ever need to do this again, and pasted it here:

to get usb control, I had to download two different items. One was from the n800's application manager, named "maemo-control-usb" and the other was named "usb-otg-plugin" from maemo garage, https://garage.maemo.org/, (interestingly, the only search that allowed that app to come up was by typing in: "usb-otg-plugin" and nothing else would bring it up. Direct url is "https://garage.maemo.org/projects/usb-otg-plugin/"

After both were installed, it still didn't work until I removed and installed both of them a second time, with the "counterpart" installed, (so with them both installed, first remove and reinstall "maemo-control-usb," but not "usb-otg-plugin," then remove/ reinstall "usb-otg-plugin" with "maemo-control-usb" in. I don't know why, but it worked after that. An odd dependency problem?)

Good luck,

Joe

Re: USB Control in Diablo

I've just installed diablo on n800 and trying to get USB. The Gui is driving me mad,
so I'm resorting to the command line (using SSH from my PC.)

Code:

# apt-get install maemo-control-usb
...
maemo-control-usb is already the newest version.
#  apt-get install usb-otg-plugin
...
E: Couldn't find package usb-otg-plugin

Similary could not find usbhost or usbcontrol. All repositories enabled in GUI.
/etc/sources.list.d/hildon-application-manager.list
Code:

deb http://catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com/certified/ diablo user
deb http://catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com/non-certified/ diablo user
deb http://catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com/updates/diablo-1/ ./
deb http://repository.maemo.org/extras/ diablo free non-free
deb http://browser-extras.garage.maemo.org/browser-extras/ chinook browser-extras

Anything missing?
After an "apt-get update" there is still a problem:

Code:

# apt-get upgrade
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages have been kept back:
  libdb4.2 libxml2
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 2 not upgraded.

Why would they be held back?

Whats the "proper" way to get USB host control in Diablo?
