Tampered with matchbox.defs and now tablet won't start

Hi.
I tried a couple of minutes ago to change some options in /etc/osso-af-init/matchbox.defs, but apparently with some mistake. Now, whenever I start the tablet it goes into an endless loop of restarts.
How can I edit/restore the file? I really don't want to reflash the tablet again..
Thanks!

You probably have no choice but to reflash. I you are going to muck around in /etc you really should be cloning to a memory card so you can recover.

Isn't there some recovery mode I can use?

Does this mean there is a way to clone from sd to flash?

You wish.

No. What he means, is you cloned to SD and play with the SD clone. If something screw up, you copy from flash to clone. I am NOT aware how to clone from SD to flash yet, ask some guru.

If you have NOT re-flash yet. Please try to press the escape button, the one like a counter clockwise arrow key, as late as possible but before the "endless" restart and hold on to it. Depends on the screw up level, you MAY be able to get back in and correct your change, sometimes. Good luck

Cloning from SD to flash hasn't come about yet. There is a thread around here somewhere regarding backup solutions for the NIT and this was discussed.

GA: good to hear from you. Any chance to help me on the dumb App manager that I just screwed up? If not, I myself is looking for a reflash :(

Well you can get SD/MMC card with already cloned system from someone, use nokia linux flasher to set root device to mmc, boot it and then mount flash filesystem and fix it.

Next time consider installing bootmenu and clone system to card before doing such experiments. In theory you can then also use usb networking recovery mode but OS2008 kernel currently has borken usbnet driver (at least the windows RNDIS part). In near future there will be also onscreen root shell console usable with N810 or usb keyboard.
