Diablo and Canola2
I still can't get my Canola work under Diablo. There is no video icon. Any solution out there?

Re: Diablo and Canola2
Python seems to be broken from what I can tell and it is part of the problem.
It will just take time to get all of the bugs worked out. |
Re: Diablo and Canola2
Canola works okay in Diablo. Use Canola Cleaner and don't install extras-devel.

Re: Diablo and Canola2
Canola2 Cleanup will not execute in Diablo.

Re: Diablo and Canola2
Mine is having problems even after a fresh install of Diablo yesterday. I did install about 30 applications so take it with a grain of salt. Basically, Canola starts but all text is missing eve in the configuration settings and all 'yes' 'no' pop up boxes. .

Re: Diablo and Canola2
Oh, and I almost forgot, running canola-cleanup returns the following:

Re: Diablo and Canola2
Munk I had the very same problem as yours.
That's what I did: remove canola2 and everything related to it. remove any app that uses python remove python (dunno if it shows up in the App Manager, you can however remove it from command line: as root: dpkg --ignore-depends -r python2.5 ) - disable any extras repository. - add ONLY the chinook extras repository and install Canola2 again. - disable the chinook extras repository - re-enable the diablo one (the default extras repo) - enjoy, it should work. |
Re: Diablo and Canola2
In the Diablo Extras there is a Diablo Canola Cleanup
|
Re: Diablo and Canola2
I will repeat again. The missing Canola text problem is related to some packages from extras-devel. Remove extras-devel and reinstall. Search before you post.

Thank's for the info

Re: Diablo and Canola2
Good to see that the average user won't be able to simply use his tablet under Diablo... And I do not speak of the canola2 thing only but all this python stuff. It is a shame !

If you stick to the paved road, things are a lot smoother. If you go off-roading, things will get bumpy occasionally. The problem is many people don't read warning signs. extras-devel is definitely *not* for average user consumption. However, cool things tend to start off in there and people are too impatient to wait for them to mature and be migrated to the regular extras repo. It looks like there is very good progress on getting a more organized flow of packages from devel -> testing -> stable so hopefully users will become more familiar with what kind of risk they are willing to take. |
Re: Diablo and Canola2
Anyone know when beta10 is coming out. The last firmware patch didn't go well on my n810 and I upgraded to Diablo simply because I didn't have anything to lose. Canola seems to work ok but the UP&P and Youtube plugins prevent the app from loading if they are installed.
Hopefully 10 will be diablo compatible... |
Re: Diablo and Canola2
I am using Diablo with Canola beta 10 right now. First I had to install the latest (as of today) Canola clean-up 0.1.8 Maemo3. With that installed, I removed all traces of Beta 9. Finally, I downloaded the beta 10 and all the plug-ins.

Re: Diablo and Canola2
Thanks for the fast reply and great news!
Where is the beta10 install? On their site I am just seeing the beta9. Thanks very much! |
Re: Diablo and Canola2
I did not get it at their site. On my N800 I just used the application manager and saw it listed under available applications, only after, of course, I deleted beta 9.
