Re: Offline browsing

hmm, sounds like he wants to download the webpages that rss feeds link to...

i recall such a app being worked on, but i cant recall what it was called right now...

found it:
http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...51&postcount=3

seems it have not been updated in a while, but should still work as its a python app...

nope, spoke too soon. i gave it a spin and it fails to add feeds :(

Re: Offline browsing

Ah right. That's going to be difficult since the N800's web browser won't even start up unless there is an Internet connection. I discovered this when trying to use the Google Gears plugin.

offline browsing is ok for me too. got lotsa html format ebooks and the browser handles them well, though screen scrolling seems to be broken, it only selects texts.

Sometimes its possible to run a database on a local webserver. For example with Wikipedia this is possible. Although one can also convert the SQL (or) XML data to 'dict' format allowing the command line 'dict' to access Wikipedia information. I don't know any other examples besides Wikipedia though.

Re: Offline browsing

seems like feedelity actually works. one just have to make sure that one is online while adding a feed as it will try to download them, and python apps cant make the tablet auto-connect.

ones thaats done, just hit download and it will grap the webpages of the news items. after that, uncheck its online mode and start reading ;)

Besides feedelity

There is also HTTrack

and also WebHTTrack.

Of course there is always the old command line standby wget ;)

I'm guessing that the reason some can open MicroB while offline, is because they use a local homepage (like the default one) and not an actual website.

Just a guess.

No I changed my homepage to google's url and I still have no problem opening the browser in offline mode, it does ask me is I want to exit offiline mode, then I say no and then it opens a blank page, now I can point the browser to any local html file I want. Are there actually people who can't open the browser at all with no connection?
