Hey guys just wanted to let everyone know maemobox.org is still giving away free webspace and it can be used for anything. Signing up is easyer then before. BTW Way to go Qole on helping me use my bandwidth lol he has used 175GB of bandwidth so far this month. That is still less then 3% of my available bandwidth so signup and start sharing any files you need.

Can you give us a bit more info on Maemobox?

I know its not supposed to be complicated, but why are you offering free web hosting? Looks like some start-up webhost company...? Are the servers hosted on actual tablets? ( :p )

I got tired of having to wait to download from places like rapidshare. Also I had alot of extra space and bandwidth. I started off just giving accounts to people to host files for maemo/tablet reasons but decided to give them to anyone who wants. Trust me I'm not start up web host I am so low tech I have to enter everyones information into my server by hand, since I don't have any kinda of panel that will do it automaticlly, but my server is stable and fast(enough). Just ask Qole and a few of the other guys here who host several gigs of data there. I'm not about making money, this will always be free. Also nope not hosted on tablets although that would be cool. BTW I've been doing this for months this isn't something I just started.

It should be noted that there's lots of space available on Garage if you need it for Maemo projects.

thats true but what if you want to host some files you are working on an don't want anyone else to have access yet, or lets say you want to have your own website, or a million other reasons why you don't want to use garage like say you are hosting something other then a maemo project. Heck you can host anything that is legal on my server if you want.

Edit: Infact if you just want somewhere to host a Maemo Project then I would suggest Garage but if you want more or want to host something else try my server.

Well, I could use a little space for the .debs I put together, I don't have any place of my own and these are mostly ported or re-packaged stuff, so it doesn't fit in garage. So I looked at your site, but I couldn't see exactly what I'm supposed to do to sign up for some free web space?

Well, assuming it's project related, you mean something like this?

I'm not trying to say there's no reason to use your service, simply pointing out that people interested in having web space for Maemo-related things should probably consider Garage as one of their options.

Wouldn't Extras (or Extras-devel) be the perfect place for them?

Nah, my small packages are not worth it. As I said, they're mostly minor ported or re-packaged stuff that one or two people asked about. In any case Extras are for chinook and diablo, and I still build for OS2007 only (don't have space yet on my laptop for the 4.1 scratchbox and I don't want to throw away what I have).

Ah, ok... the wiki page only talks about chinook and diablo though. In any case I will probably upload a couple of my packages to extras (things like rdate, lprng, and remind, for example) at some point. But I've got a few once-off packages and some non-packages too (e.g. a file list from the rx image) that people asked about. Currently I keep most of them at box.net, but the user interface is inconvenient. So I'm still looking for some free web space. :)

The link says Order Hosting all hosting is free I guess I should change it to just Signup for Hosting.
