Tablethacker.com becomes Penguinbaits Blog
Welcome to Penguinbaits Blog
So far its mostly re-documenting stuff I have already done, new projects will also be posted out here. There is a link to a chat page that will allow you to join #maemo on Freenode if you have some questions for the guru's that hang out there. There is a maemo RSS feed for keeping up with Penguinbaits maemo related babblings. Looking forward to your comments and sugestions. This is still under development and more will follow. **NOTICE** There will be several changes going on at penguinbait.com and tablethacker.com. I have a mess of incomming links from around the world. I will be moving things around and hopefully access to all remains unchanged. If you use a link to either site and it goes dead, please be sure to let me know, so I can fix it or let you know the new location. |

Re: Tablethacker.com becomes Penguinbaits Blog
Great! Looks nice, how about an 800x400 version?
/edit - after I made a comment I just got a blank screen. |
Re: Tablethacker.com becomes Penguinbaits Blog
after I made a well-reasoned, well-thought-out comment, it was deleted.
perhaps he should stick to being a "tablet techy guy" and save the political punditry for others. |
Re: Tablethacker.com becomes Penguinbaits Blog
Well.. you and I are about opposites in the political arena PB... but - Good luck with the blog.. and I still thank ya for all the work on the tablet packages :).

Re: Tablethacker.com becomes Penguinbaits Blog
looks really nice! will be stepping around, every once in a while. I was a bit surprised about the Bush post, but hey, its your blog and i dislike him as well. From my point of view (I don't live in the US) democrats ideals are closer to mine, (I consider myself pro-life, though) and would much prefer to see your country in the hands of Obama than McCain. After all whatever the US does, ends up affecting the rest of the world. ANYWAY.......Great Blog, and keep it up!

I am pro-life and pro-choice. I do not think it has to be one side, and exlcude the other. I do not believe in abortions, I would council anyone away from an abortion. I would however not condenm or prevent anyone from getting one. Should a rape victim be forced to give birth? Should a woman who could die from childbirth be forced to risk her life? I like Obama's statement, we may not agree on abortion, but I think I can agree on a solution to bring an end to so many unwanted pregnancies. What can I say, it's my blog, so it has my opinions :) I did however create a RSS feed for those who only want maemo related posts and not my political ramblings. http://tablethacker.com/wp/?tag=maemo&feed=rss2 I like this quote from. "You can't bring me down", by Suicidal Tendencies Before you go taking a walk in my world you better take a look at the real world Cause this ain't no Mister Roger's Neighborhood Can you say "feel like s h i t?" Yea maybe sometimes I do feel like s h i t I ain't happy 'bout it, but I'd rather feel like s h i t than be full of s h i t! And if I offended you, oh I'm sorry But maybe you need to be offended But here's my apology and one more thing...f u c k you! |
Re: Tablethacker.com becomes Penguinbaits Blog
I also think that it always depends on circunstances. I think people get to caught on the black and white ideals, not considering shades of grey. However, while I would tolerate cases of abortions, I would never really approve one. I guess we think alike on that matter.
While I usually don't like to get caught in politics, I think than a democrat goverment would suit you guys better. I am currently hoping for a right wing goverment in my country, but thats a whole different story. (And different types of politics) |

"Change is not a destination ...and hope is not strategy." ;) I might be more interested in what Obama stands for, if I knew ...but all I ever hear are 30-second sound clips. I see no substance to his campaign... it's all garnish, with no steak. (and, he seems to change the garnish a lot, as well. ;)) |
Re: Tablethacker.com becomes Penguinbaits Blog
amazing how a post about a blog can turn into a political fight....sight....i guess that if it isn't Obama, at least i hope McCain can stabilize economy and end stupid wars. It makes americans in general look bad. I know better, but I have heard many comments in that direction.
I can't stan Palin though. I have a heavy dislike on hunters in general. (inner vegetarian speaking) |
Re: Tablethacker.com becomes Penguinbaits Blog
Ah I love quotes :)
John McCain September 15th 2008 "the fundamentals of our economy are strong," I became a JP Morgan Chase customer today. Since the bank that held my mortgage failed. |
Re: Tablethacker.com becomes Penguinbaits Blog
Neato, PB!
Anyone know how to migrate a whole blog to Wordpress and still keep the old URLs, images, etc? |
Re: Tablethacker.com becomes Penguinbaits Blog
Also, PB: I like that you included coffee in the graphics, but that mug is not nearly large enough. Any proper cup of coffee has to be at least 1100 pixels wide ;) Other than that, it's perfect :D

Re: Tablethacker.com becomes Penguinbaits Blog
Coffee?
I thought that was rum and coke! |

"You know that there's been tremendous turmoil in our financial markets and Wall St. And it is -- people are frightened by these events. Our economy, I think still -- the fundamentals of our economy are strong. But these are very, very difficult times." Note that he's not saying (as the incomplete quote you offered, above, might infer) that we have a "fundamentally strong economy" here, but rather that the basis (fundamentals) upon which our economy is based, is solid. When I was in high school, I came home one day to find this 'old jalopy' parked in our driveway. My dad had bought it for $1,250. It didn't look like much, but investigation proved the frame and engine were in very good shape. In other words, the fundamentals were solid... and some restoration work was required to return the vehicle to top condition. We did that work, most of it ourselves, and spent probably another $5,000 in parts and materials (all original, no reproductions), over the course of the next two years. We then spent several years trailering our fully-restored 1932 Ford Model A Sport Coupe all over the Northeast, where it took "Best of Show" or "Best in Class" at nearly every show we entered. Quote:

Well contrary to the FUD that Bush tried to scare everyone with, I am just fine and had no worries ever? Lets be clear though the fundamentals of our economy are not strong. Until we change the way things are done and hold people accountable instead of handing out 700Billion dollars in bailouts with no oversight (as requested), the fundamentals of our economy will never be strong. So from my perspective its was clear, the fundamentals of our economy are not strong. We have +6% unemployment, +8% here is Michigan. The gas prices are insane, the food prices are insane, college costs are through the roof, people can't afford healthcare, seniors have to decide between food or medicine. Nothing about our economy is strong, unless you own an oil company. In 2007, the average annual household income rose 1.3% to $50,233.00 according to the Census Bureau. Imagine making 50K a year and supporting a family in this economy. |

Consider that single workers each count as a separate household, and likely have lower income than most families. The low end gets weighted with these, so that average is probably a good deal different from the average income of households that are "supporting a family". Not trying to argue how good or bad the economy's fundamentals are, but that statistic doesn't translate to the picture you're trying to paint. |

Unemployment: http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s...2551583351.gif Doesn't look so bad compared to our yesteryears? It is high, but not nearly so bad as it has been. (That chart is from the gov't. Here.) I don't know any seniors choosing between heat and healthcare, or food and medication, and I can't find that statistic anywhere, so... My state will give me a free tuition + money for board and all I need to do is keep a 3.5 GPA or higher. Maybe Louisiana is ahead of the times (uh huh, yeah). So, money for college is not a factor at all, so long as the student wants to really go. (Yes, any student here, who goes to public or private school. Same requirements for everyone.) And, if you're only making 50k or less, you probably shouldn't strike up a family in the first place. Bailing out private corporations is a bad idea, I couldn't agree more. But, ****, the US had one major depression... ever? (Well, depends if you count the post-revolution economy as a depression.) I think we've done alright so far, so I'm sure the fundamentals are working out well. |

Please note these stats are 2 years old "Nearly 13 million American children live in families with incomes below the federal poverty level, which is $20,000 a year for a family of four. The number of children living in poverty increased by more than 11 percent between 2000 and 2005. There are 1.3 million more children living in poverty today than in 2000, despite indications of economic recovery and growth." Not only are these numbers dispiriting, the official poverty measure tells only part of the story—it is increasingly viewed as a flawed metric of economic hardship (see box). Research consistently shows that, on average, families need an income of about twice the federal poverty level to make ends meet. Children living in families with incomes below this level—for 2006, $40,000 for a family of four—are referred to as low income. Thirty-nine percent of the nation’s children—more than 28 million in 2005—live in low-income families." http://www.nccp.org/publications/pub_684.html This is what I said Quote:
