OM Weather Update Problems!
I just got an update notification on OM Weather (10/21/08). I installed it and it bricked my N800. I'm reflashing now. Warning! Maybe just some combination of software on my device, but use caution. OM Weather is coming off my N800....

Re: OM Weather Update Problems!
I think your comment is premature, unsubstantiated and, thus, without foundation.
I updated OM Weather on my N800 via the Application Manager yesterday, and have had no problems with the application or anything else on the tablet, whatsoever. I suspect the fault with your tablet lies elsewhere. Edit: okay, I did notice one small problem. The person responsible for rewriting the English help screens is not credited anywhere in the About, Authors, Thanks, or Translators box... ;) |
Re: OM Weather Update Problems!
Thank you briand for your comment. Nevertheless, it was working fine until the download of the OM Weather update and when I rebooted it died. 1+1 usually equals 2 and I was wanting to give an early warning. I would be interested if others have problems as well. Regardless, I am reflashing and until proven otherwise, I will suggest it was OM weather perhaps not playing well with something else on my machine.

Hi,
The update went fine for me and my N800. Updated through the Application Manager and all went well. David |

Re: OM Weather Update Problems!
After OM weather update install, applet screen doesn't remember background settings after reboot anymore.
Like if I'm setting white transparent background for applet, it's transparent black with black text after every reboot. Booting is really weird also. After that OM weather update, n810 was booting up really quick. There wasn't anymore that blue bar growning from left to right at bottom of screen. And total booting time were something like 8sec. from button push to desktop already visible. Normally closer ~15sec. Like that n810 never really made shutdown at all, just some "hibernate" mode or something. And that was also tested yesterday after reflashing and just OM weather installed. I decided now not to istall this weather applet and device is booting and working ok. |
Re: OM Weather Update Problems!
My N800 took the last OMWeather update and worked fine after the reboot. Are there any dependencies which you might have uninstalled prior to the update?
|
Re: OM Weather Update Problems!
Do not under any circumstances change the settings for "check internal temp" or whatever it says. You will not get back to your desktop. And since I can't get to the desktop and dropbear is not letting me ssh in to remove the settings file... it's reflash time for me.

Re: OM Weather Update Problems!
Since the update, every time I reboot my N800 OM Weather background defaults to black and in "update" tab the Auto update box is unchecked.

Re: OM Weather Update Problems!
[QUOTE=vasvlad;236412]That is true. Thank you for your help. I will fix it tomorrow.
Dear users please tell about the various errors in bugtruck on the homepage of the project the errors were unknown since after reboot the screen remain white with the logo impossible to get to the desktop, as said above the settings were the same before the update hope you find what went wrong with some of us and thanks for this useful app. |
Re: OM Weather Update Problems!
It is certainly reassuring to know that others had similar problems. My original problem was as others described, reboot brought up a black, blank screen. I did originally have the internal temperature box checked to show on the screen. Even prior to the update, OMweather would turn off all my other gadgets on the startup screen, so it was set not to display in the applets. I really hope that the bugs are fixed, it is a great application. I hope the developers will announce when it has been updated and ready for safe release.
Meanwhile, I have been running fine since reflashing and adding back all of my previous programs with the exception of OMweather. |
Re: OM Weather Update Problems!
the new updates ver 0.21:4 has solve much of the problems and i am again enjoying this good soft.

Re: OM Weather Update Problems!
I have OM Weather ver 0.21.4 and still get the black backround whenever I reboot. Perhaps you can set the default backround to light blue, then you will not get black (foreground) on black (background).

Re: OM Weather Update Problems!
Hmm, do you think that the wind directions should be adopted to the LOCALE setting? So that the abbreviations are shown in the native language?
(I'd happily provide one for Dutch.) |
Re: OM Weather Update Problems!
Vlad - I have normal backround after calling window popup. Also, I left the font color at black but I did change the font to Sans 18.

You have to select your language for correct displaying of a wind directions. Vlad. |
Re: OM Weather Update Problems!
Vlad - It would be "perfection" if in "tools" you could enter a string such as "Property of John Smith" and have it displayed at the bottom of the weather screen on the desktop. I have accomplished it the hard way by creating a bit map image with my name and phone number and bring that file in as my backround image.

Behaviors Omweather and background is very strange. I need more information: 1. Version of OS 2. Version of Omweather 3. Screenshot from your device 4. Config file of omweather (You may take it in /var/lib/gconf/apps/maemo/%gconf.xml ) About your suggestion. I can create especial for you another applet for example it will have name "About me", where you can write a variety of information, and you'll see her on display of device. Vlad. |

I confirm Den's bug.
OS: Diablo 4.2008.36-5 OMWeather: 0.21.4 build 266 Background color is not saving or loading properly. Desired bgcolor can only be set through settings manually. In attachments there are gconfs and screenshots right after boot and after manual setting of bgcolor. Btw, there's no way for digits input using n810 hardware keyboard (e.g. bgcolor). |

I confirm this bug also. I created the bug report. https://garage.maemo.org/tracker/ind...id=93&atid=417 This bug will be fixed in version 0.21.5. It will be released on November 20. What did you mean "no way for digits input n810 hardware keyboard." I can change bg color in "Pick a Colour" window using hardware keyboard. Vlad. |

"no way for digits input WITH n810 hardware keyboard." The only field where I can input numbers using hardware keyboard is Color (HEX one), all the rest get letters. |

Re: OM Weather Update Problems!
An 'about me' applet would be pretty cool.
On the Home Page view, it would be cool to have a place where you can have a personal message, something like (Property of John Smith, click for more info) and an option to have a display picture. If you click on the applet, then it brings up a UI similar to the OMWeather pop-up, with different tabs for different information about the owner. Basically giving out information about the owner so that if someone finds a lost tablet, they have the information on how to return it. As for settings, it would have input fields for all the information, settings for font and colour, options for background colour and transparency, options for display picture and thumbnail size etc. |
