i wanna an application should work... not a test but tx follow soon... |
Re: vnc server
All you need to do is install it. Then start it once (there's no GUI sadly) and you should be able to connect. Then if you want to turn it off. Run the application again.

Re: vnc server
you just run it and use a vnc viewer in your pc, using the ip of the tablet and the standar 5900 port. Its all explained in the website.
I have used it and it works, albeit slower than i would like. Please be a little less agressive in your posts, specially if you are asking for help. Give as much info on what you have tried as possible, too. |

Re: vnc server
Ok, I understand. I have said it before I can come up too serious around here. My default language is spanish, so yeah I get it. And I didn't remember x11vnc it had that peculiar way of working, but its all explained in the website.
Anyhow, we seemed to have started on the wrong foot. My name is Elia, howdoyoudo? |
Re: vnc server
I have x11vnc as well and it works great !
When you want to use it just start it from the n810 start menu (unfortunately you don't see anything) OR start a x terminal and type x11vnc and hit enter. Then you see some text scrolling. Then start, as the other guy said, a VNC app on your PC (WinVNC, UltraVNC) and fill in the internal IP adres of the tablet. You can obtain this by typing ifconfig in a x terminal session. Some limitations apply (at least in UltraVNC I didn't try other): - Weird enough, clicking on the 'start' (3 green blocks, 1 blue block 3rd from top left) does not work from a vnc session. - When the keypad is locked, you cannot click on the VNC screen as it were the 'real' n810 screen. - Typing digits on the computer keyboard does not work it results in letters. - switching between input fields can be done with the 'tab' key. |

PS: Remember x11vnc needs restarting between sessions. Don't know if this behaviour is configurable but it has caught me out a couple of times. |
Re: vnc server
I have an N810, and have used VNC (X11VNC?). The keyboard is a big problem. The 810 seems to be married to the built-in keyboard, and there doesn't seem to be a way to emulate that keyboard on a remote machine. For example I can't find the 810 equivalent of the function key.
Has anyone found an answer to this? THX Bruce |

Yes it is, until you use x11vnc -xkb which translates the computer keyboard normally (digit keys). In another post I posted this URL http://www.karlrunge.com/x11vnc/x11vnc_opts.html It shows many options how to use X11vnc, I made a shell script with #!/bin/sh x11vnc -http -xkb -ultrafilexfer -forever -passwd [mypassword] which allows browser access on default port 5800 (beside VNC viewer port 5900), extended keyboard (pressing numbers on the computer keyboard result in numbers rather than letters), file transfer enabled when using UltraVNC (a similar option exists for TightVNC), remains in memory (x11vnc does not unload when you terminate the session) and a password. This is just an example. The only keys for which I have no translation are the buttons on the edge on the n810 (zoom, full screen keys). |

How did you do this? In general, how do I launch an arbitrary application since I can't access the application chooser? Thanks in advance. |
Re: vnc server
This is also weird.
But if you install Personal Menu http://maemo.org/downloads/product/O...personal-menu/ which allows starting of any Maemo application but also self-made command lines , and you can run them in a X terminal or as GUI and as root or not. So it is more flexiable as well. This application is also selectable from a VNC session. I think this will solve your problem. I have done this as well. |
Re: vnc server
