N900 release tomorrow?
please let it be true - only 14 hours to go...
http://events.nokia.com/countdown/ |
Re: N900 release tomorrow?
Don't hold your breath.
|
Re: N900 release tomorrow?
Might not be a release, but could be an announcement about it's release (i.e. 1st quarter '09). Once the Maemo 5 SDK has been released which we keep hearing (very soon). Then the only thing we wouldn't know about is the physical form of the hardware.
|
Re: N900 release tomorrow?
So... speculation time... could this be the lost and forgotten Elephanta?
What facts do we have that are for or against a tablet release tomorrow? Apparently it wouldn't have the OMAP3 processor? If so it would be pretty soon outdated as the next generation beasts come out... My guess is something completely different. Not a tablet, not a phone, but something derived from them... Interesting times :) |
Re: N900 release tomorrow?
14 hours would be a stretch
|
Re: N900 release tomorrow?
I think i exactly know what this is. According to the nokia internal release sheet which was previously leaked i would bet on the 5mpx, touch screen flagship phone to be released.
|
Re: N900 release tomorrow?
i hope it is N900;) if it was just another phone they would have made such a counter:P and they already have Nokia XpressMusic 5800 with touchscreen and 3.2mpx... 14 hours...:D we will see

Re: N900 release tomorrow?
It's not a tablet.
(Why so sure? Well, either I'm right, or fate has conspired to make me look a fool. In the latter case, I get a tablet announcement, which I want, so I'm trying for provocative here. That, and the probability of a tablet announcement is very low right now.) |
Re: N900 release tomorrow?
My sources tell me it's the 770 WiMAX Harmattan edition.

Re: N900 release tomorrow?
I would think it is the ip08
here is the complete list Before we show you the full table, let us highlight the models that we think are worth mentioning: * Surfer: runs S60 3rd Edition FP2, and features a QWERTY and a 5MP camera with DVB-H. We’re thinking this is the rumored QWERTY Nseries device * IP08: runs S605th Edition, with a widescreen touchscreen, QWERTY and 5MP camera. The other features are pretty much Nokia-standard now. This seems to be the new Nseries touchscreen handset! And it does look promising with a QWERTY! * Ivalo: Seems to be the follow-up to IP08 and holds 32GB of built-in memory! * Eitri: is pretty much similar to IP08 but has 8GB of internal memory, and an integrated compass, accelerometer and proximity sensor. * Corolla: runs S60 5th Edition with a 3inch VGA display (non touchscreen), but offers a dazzling 8MP camera, a “half-qwerty” keyboard, 8GB of built-in memory, and the other Nokia standards. This smells like the new flagship Nseries from Nokia, but put in a touchscreen and we will be drooling even more! Now here’s the full roadmap, tell us if we missed anything worth mentioning! You should probably dress up in your Star Wars costume as well.

Re: N900 release tomorrow?
At the very least we know it's an N-series device per the Nokia website...
http://events.nokia.com/nokiaworld/home.htm With a tag line "Desktop.Laptop.Pocket" leading to the countdown page. |
Re: N900 release tomorrow?
nokia have never made a big number out of the tablet iirc, so i dont think this is related...
|
Re: N900 release tomorrow?
With Flash disabled I still have no clue what this is all about... hence this cannot be about the NIT... :D

Re: N900 release tomorrow?
I bet on an S60-based N-series "flagship" phone based on the same hardware as 5800.

Remember that when Nokia pre-announced the 5800 they stressed that it was "just" a mid-range phone, not their forthcoming high-end S60 phone. So this one should be the high-end S60 phone. The IP08 makes sense - the i-phone killer that should have been out in 08 but will now ship in 09. The slogan "Desktop.Laptop.Pocket" is intriguing, especially as "Pocket" is emphasized. Maybe it means the new phone will include QT so that the same app can be compiled for phone, laptop and desktop. Roger. |

Re: N900 release tomorrow?
If whatever it is, if it has Symbian...
I'm betting it will be Symbian's last stand. If it's the game changer it is rumored to be, I doubt it is a Symbian device. |

Re: N900 release tomorrow?
I think there was suppose to be two days on conference...so there might be couple of new devices...best news could be for a reveal of N900. I am literally counting days for that news day when the official specs, images and the features are revealed.

Re: N900 release tomorrow?
Here is a concrete update from Scoble over on Friend Feed (courtesy of Howard Forums)
Scoble says: "“Nokia has the goods but I'm not allowed to tell you what or why until 9:45 a.m. (Spain time) today. Wow.” "I don't say "wow" lightly, but I can't say more. They did something Apple never does: trusted us with an early view of their devices the night before their big coming out party." "I've already hinted way too much. I don't want to get the blogger relations team fired. It's VERY COOL that they are treating us so well and giving us such great access to their team" "I took a picture of the new thing from Nokia next to an iPhone. Believe me, I'm a MAJOR iPhone fan. More later today. FriendFeed'ers will get first look at the videos and pictures I shot tonight." "you'll want to see what they are doing there. Let's just say this isn't the same old N95 interface" ----------------------- This has me thinking that there is definitely a new tablet being announced which does not run Symbian, or at least regular Symbian. N900 with Maemo5 anyone? links : http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...3&page=7&pp=15 http://friendfeed.com/e/35f1ea87-b46...owed-to-tell/: |
Re: N900 release tomorrow?

Yes, it's the N97. A nice N-series device, but no next tablet. :) |
Re: N900 release tomorrow?
to bad i recently got a phone, as that nokia was actually interesting.
kinda like a tytnII with S60 rather then winmob. oh, and that dpad design looks like its lifted straight of the N810 keyboard ;) |
Re: N900 release tomorrow?
So, they took the WORST parts of the N810 (shallow keys, bad dpad. dpad not on face) and the general design, slapped on a newer processor, and S60, and called it the N97. Even same battery!
Looks OK hardware wise, but no accelerometer? And the screen uses stylus and finger, but is not resistive (interesting). Basically, all they have to do is bump the resolution to 800 x 480, put Maemo5, and hopefully add an accelerometer, and Bang, N900. |
Re: N900 release tomorrow?
whats the deal with the accelerometer?
