Tabletscene turned into a Viagra ad
 

I just checked Tabletscene only to find that over 3 hrs ago someplaced placed Viagra ads in every forum which show up in the home page forum summary. Isn't anyone watching the store?

I go there. I answer questions by newbies and others when I can. It's been more quiet there lately than before, but it's a pretty easy and nice environment for the casual user.

Yeah, I did go there at the start but I stopped when the ethos kinda became "no command line stuff here", even when the only solution *is* using the command line. Dunno if that has changed, I never went back after that to see

Fair enough. But with tabletschool gone, tablet guru gone, and itt going to maemo.org, it seems to me that there will need to be someplace for ordinary users to go.

I don't understand your comments. Can we get an answer to the question - what is going to happen to tabletscene after itt moves to maemo.org? If you don't know yet or if its under discussion, then please say so.

It's not my decision, so, no, I can't comment on it. Whether Tablet Scene remains open or not, maemo.nokia.com will be available as a place for "normal" users.

There doesn't seem to be such a site, or at least it is not up right now.

BTW, I'm an abnormal user, if you haven't figured that out yet. :p

You know, there could be a nexus between the two products. Picture this: A television ad with a middle age man, saying "I used to need Viagra, until I got this ..." and he pulls out his shiny new N900 with hard case, and continues "but now that I've gotten a Nokia N900, I am excited all the time!"

Clearly. It's forthcoming (as with the move of the developer material from maemo.org to Forum Nokia), and it'll signify the real beginning of maemo.org as a true community site.

No: you're engaged in online discussion about a product, involved in a community and passionate about a series of devices. In no way does this fall under "normal" ;-)

The move of ITT to talk.maemo.org shouldn't have any effect on you :-)

That is how I am thinking of it. The OS 2008 user site is a marketing site, not a forum or community site.

The site may be visualy and structuraly different but our forums will be the same because we the community are the content.

The best forums are those, like this one, that is so active that many times you get a reply in under 5 minutes. I term this a "real time forum".

2nd that. I follow a number of forums on different technical topics and none is as responsive as this one -- even the ones with much larger memberships.
