SSU 5.2008.43-7 is available

A OS2008 Feature upgrade (SSU) is available now. Check your Application Manager :)

I haven't found a changelog yet.

I have upgraded my N810 without problems.

Re: SSU 5.2008.43-7 is available

Note to dual- or multibooters or those wishing to "clone system to SD": penguinbait's installer-tools and bootmenu-installer deb packages will not be updated for this or future SSU releases.

At the moment the easiest way to clone to SD seems to be by doing the operation while still using Diablo v4.2008.36-5 or earlier, and then performing further SSU updates (e.g. on the system on SD card only) and reinstallation of bootmenu as required.

For updating the bootmenu only, bunanson has step-by-step instructions.

From now on penguinbait will only support his new multi-purpose console-tools package!!

SSU is not installable here: libc6 is missing.

Based on modified packages at least Modest, Browser, Bluetooth components and Flash player have received some updates.

I am just happy to see that work continues on the OS

There is both new initfs and new kernel, bootmenu installer needs modification, I'm examining initfs changes.

fanoush 2008-12-17 13:11

Re: SSU 5.2008.43-7 is available

OK, I have uploaded updated initfs_flasher.tgz and it works fine on my device.

Looks like linuxrc script in initfs is same, only /etc/initfs_version is bumped up to 2008-43 and there are some binary changes in busybox and other stuff. Nokia changelog since previous (0.95.19-200835maemo2) version:

The others packages in this update or don't have a changelog file (? I think if you follow the debian policy (or the Maemo one) you need put a changelog in every package), or the changelogs are full of "Fix: NB#XXXX" (more about this topic here) without any other text, or they aren't relevant.

Unfortunately, Nokia don't wanna publish a changelog, neither let to the community write one :(

For the users of the .deb bootmenu with bootmenu.d item support from bootmenu SVN (from Deblet and Mer for instance):

http://packages.tspre.org/pool/user/..._1.4_armel.deb

I haven't tested it either but updated it based on fanoush's release.

So am I premature in thinking this has fixed the "pushing key once causes multiple repeats" bug (#2723)? I can't reproduce it after upgrading.

If true, thank god. That was driving me mad.

More information here: http://repository.maemo.org/stable/4...otes_4.1.2.txt

Though it's related to the SDK, it has some of the bugs fixed.

In terms of bug fixes, the only thing I've seen is this from the SDK 4.1.2 release notes. Some of them are likely particular to the SDK, and not the device firmware though.

Do you have extras-devel enabled? I think you may have more success if you disable it as extras-devel contains an old (now) version of bluez-utils.

Yes. I don't know why though. I just used APT to install it instead. But then I went on to install everything via APT, and this is not recommend.

Reason was bluez-utils-test and minigpsd which I had manually installed. Because application manager won't remove user/ section packages to install other packages, upgrading didn't work.

Error message message is totally wrong, and correct behaviour would be a question if user wants to uninstall applications in order to upgrade.

This is excellent, but in a small attempt to spread some chear, how many of us remember the last Nokia holiday season:

Ollie: "Swen, come on we're gonna be late for the party. The vodka is getting warm. And don't forget to turn out the lights."

Swen: "Alright, alright! I'll be there in a second. I just have one more thing to do and that is that! Whew, I didn't think I'd make it in time."

Ollie: "Come on! Let's go! You're not messing with the DNS are you?"

Swen: "No, no. Don't be silly. And besides, who is going to be playing with their tablets this time of year anyway. Cool. Done. Outta here. [talking to the machines] Now behave yourselves and I'll see you next year. Oh yeah, the lights."

In App Manager, check for updates. It should show up there.
i.e. On the App Manager 'Main View', click 'Check of Updates' --> then hit the little refresh icon in the lower right corner

Ok, I feel silly for having to ask this, but are the steps for updating a dual boot system: 1. Apply ssu to the OS on the SD card using app manager or should I be using x-term, 2. Update the one on the flash, 3. Then run initfs_flasher?
