how to conserve batter power
other than the suggestions at internet tablet school, are there any other ways?
btw, is it really better to leave the n810 on like a handphone like what was stated in the internet tablet school?:confused: |
Re: how to conserve batter power
I would guess so. The tablet school was written by a member on this board and is referred to by other members here. So whatever is recommend there is pretty much the standard here as well. Unless new information comes to light.

I don't have any testing data to prove the advice correct. But it sounds plausible. That said, a misbehaving process can drain the battery, when the tablet's left idle. It can't when the tablet's off. Personally, I let my tablet idle. But I frequently close off excess applications at bedtime, which reduces the chance a poorly written app will eat my battery overnight. |
Re: how to conserve batter power
there are times i wish there was a way to make the device "sleep" no matter what processes there where active, kinda like hittings standby on a windows box....

I never turn my N810 off. I just turn off the programs and lock the touchscreen and keys and let it sleep. It seems to last long enough to me for my used throughout the day.

Re: how to conserve batter power
i kinda recall reading some posts where people reported having the tablet fail to wake up from a soft poweroff.
and turning off wifi and screen can be done with going offline mode and then locking screen and buttons. |
Re: how to conserve batter power
hmm, nowadays i just put my tablet in offline mode and lock it

Re: how to conserve batter power
Don't try to conserve battery that much, just buy cheap hong kong batteries and replace as needed.

Re: how to conserve batter power
and watch something of a percentage be used in each boot?
and maybe some people want uptime rather then a pocket full of batteries? |

The OP is free to disregard my post -- or yours.

Re: how to conserve batter power
I got a cheap charger on ebay, cost about $10 including a crappy battery apparently from Nokia, which I tossed. The charger is about a year and a half old and still working fine.

Re: how to conserve batter power
Are you all referring to N800 battery charger? I have yet to find a charger for N810 which is the forum of this thread, N810.

Re: how to conserve batter power
The idea behind the whole "leave it on all the time" theory is this: the processor consumes ALMOST no power when it is IDLE. When your tablet is just on, with the screen off, in your pocket, it should be at an idle state, consuming almost no power. Here's the caveat: if ANY processor is being used (even just a measly 1% by some rogue process), then the processor will use almost as much power as it would if 100% of the processor was being used.
Overall, the battery consumption of the tablet being OFF, and being IDLE should be ABOUT the same. Since booting up and shutting down takes time, processing power, and therefore battery, why even bother? |

However the ebay seller I was referring to has many many kinds of batteries with charger, so it's likely he also has the n 810 one. |
