[Announce] WorldTV update - now incorporate VCURLs72
If you already have WorldTV99 installed, which allows one to watch recorded TV round the world, you should getting the [!] for its SSU update, WorldTV99 0.3.0.5-1. If not, goto my signiture for the green install button, http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2008/worldtv99/.
See http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=19044 for a complete introduction and picture/screen shots. On the new update, go down to USA - VCURLs72, channels are in alphabetical order, that will be your video center feeds and mostly are ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CNN plus more major USA TV channels. As always, feedback/comments/thanks/rotten tomatoes are ALL welcome. Again, osso media player seems to play more smoothier and mplayer plays more format/channels. Mplayer has two advantages while ossomediaplayer still missing, i.e. fullscreen widescreen and very loud audio. There are also some added channels and dead links removed, house keeping as always. All the requested channels, if it works, are incorporated. Please keep posting about dead links to keep 'down' the number of channels, current number of channel is 190 + 72 for a total of 262 world TV channels. Useful tips, I use emelfm2 to do the modification, /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf added the following to the bottom of the file, mplayer.conf softvol=yes softvol-max=600 audio-delay=yes audio-delay=10 This increases vol and better AudioVisual de-sync. If the streaming format is NOT available for that particular player, it will keeps on skipping to the next feed, usually switch to the other player will do. Go Menu>Player>check Use omapfb will also helps too. Try to use the favorite. That should be your personal TVlist as WorldTV99 is getting a little bit big now :) . It is very simple, any channel you are watching and you like it, just add to the favorite and open your favorite as your default, and 'wander' into WorldTV99 on a leisure basis. On full screen, click right upper conner to bring up the menuBar, and click the green star will add the playing channel to your fav list. Fav list stays with upgrade. and one can open the fav on the window menu by clicking the green fav button. double tap the screen switch between window and full screen. Channel listings, USA - VCURLs72 http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...light=vcurls72 PLUS the original, http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...d.php?t=24349; useful links, http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=21849, green install button http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=19044, 1st posting; has the now outdated playlist, if one wants to tinker with it green install button, http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2008/worldtv99/. enjoy, bun + koos |

Re: [Announce] WorldTV update - now incorporate VCURLs72
I might be missing something, but worldtv99 still shows version 0.2.0-1 on maemo's site, and in the package manager.

Re: [Announce] WorldTV update - now incorporate VCURLs72
Go app manager and check for update. Did you have extras enabled?

Re: [Announce] WorldTV update - now incorporate VCURLs72
My app manager is not showing any updates either. Extras is enabled in the application catalog.
Thanks. |
Re: [Announce] WorldTV update - now incorporate VCURLs72

Re: [Announce] WorldTV update - now incorporate VCURLs72
I was to early this AM... but it was up when I got back from work!
Great job! This exercise shows off what the NIT's are capable of with just a little effort. Kudos. BTW, how do I promote a listing to the "favorites" directory so it is accessible quickly when KMP is reopened? |

Re: [Announce] WorldTV update - now incorporate VCURLs72
Does anyone know why France 24 (English and French) no longer work? I copied:
mms://live.france24.com/france24_en.wsx from WorldTV99 to mplayer and Media Player and it simply isn't at that address any more. It's on the air 24/7 on Livestation and its webpages. Many French addresses seem to be dead, now. |
Re: [Announce] WorldTV update - now incorporate VCURLs72
Thanks.
Just checked, France BFMTV, Labelle TV, Telenight.com are working, the rest of the France channels are not. Will check again, if dead, will then remove. bun |

mms://213.232.226.11/MIRTV_300 and paste it into GMPLauncher, it crashes GMPLauncher loading Mplayer to render it. Something on Mplayer must be at fault from this. Once it tries to load Mplayer, GMPLauncher no longer responds locked up. Still Russian, TV+ is dead. Special Radio finds something and boots the name of what it should play, but then bombs and goes to TV SME, which is dead and skips to Vesti 24 which plays. Russia Today, the most important of this group, plays great! Is there a place to report dead links for investigation and updated links for your perusal and incorporation in? Thanks for a great product Larry |
Re: [Announce] WorldTV update - now incorporate VCURLs72
Larry: thanks for the post. I will look into it. You are at the highest level in reporting dead links :). Thanks again,

Re: [Announce] WorldTV update - now incorporate VCURLs72
I think it is last August or September, some member posted some internet TV links for cars, mainly BMW and MerzBenz etc, they are very hi quality and plays well on the tablet, I added to the WorldTV99, and somewhere along upgrades, they got lost. Does anybody remember the links? Or new ones about cars? thanks,
Edit: dont worry, I found the BMW site. Other sites are welcome. bun |
Re: [Announce] WorldTV update - now incorporate VCURLs72
I updated to this new version, but when I try to view some of the channels I get a short buffering window and then it goes on to the next entry without playing it. This continues to the end of a sub list. And randomly kmplayer just disappears. Some programs will play, others will not. Sometimes I get stutter sound and sometimes a I get no picture. So far this doesn't seem to be particularly useful. It behaves slightly better with the osso media player than with mplayer. How are people able to make this work? It appears to be interesting, but so little works that I can't tell.

Pick the channel you want to watch on TV99 and start it playing so the URL of the channel shows up in the KMplayer URL box. Press STOP button on Kmplayer to keep it from booting mplayer. Highlight the URL and copy it from the keyboard. Keep KMplayer running as it clears the clipboard if you dump it. Now, boot mplayer or media player manually and paste the URL into its playbox. Before pressing PLAY, dump KMplayer/TV99 off the CPU. Dump as much other nonsense as you can, the less running the better. Press PLAY and see if the fast video will render better on the poor little overloaded CPU. If you install "Load Applet" you can see the CPU meter go to full scale, indicating the CPU has had it while something's running like too-fast streaming. If it goes full, the video will balk for lack of a processor. It's only 400Mhz, ya know :D |
Re: [Announce] WorldTV update - now incorporate VCURLs72
If you think the CPU/streaming/whatnot is NOT good adequate, dl the clip and watch the download copy will fix it, most of the time. Unfortunately, in other times, it is the encoding format is NOT good for the tablet, dl or streaming makes NO difference, for example comedy central is one.
Some of the good ones I can think of off hand, CNN, CBC etc bun |
Re: [Announce] WorldTV update - now incorporate VCURLs72
Hi,
I am a new user of the N810 Wimax (had it for about a week). I installed the WorldTV99 application, but most of the channels don't work. For example, out of the 5 CNN channels only one works. CNN International, NASA, Weather, and Spanish don't work at all. I would say that I spent a good couple of hours yesterday going through the channels, and 90% of them didn't work. Any suggestions? |
