Rotation support must be installed separately. Once it is in place, the relevant controls in Advanced Backlight will appear automatically.

Please see this wiki article for how to install rotation support.

Ok. I did a backup and i'm ready. is it a dengerous operation?
This http://wiki.maemo.org/Rotation#N810 and this http://sse2.net/rotate/ are different...what i have to do?
I read this article of root access (http://wiki.maemo.org/Root_access), i i have to install only rootsh? if i install rootsh i have to type sudo gainroot or before every command?
Thanks

I must be missing something - I followed the instructions on the Wiki and don't have a rotation option in Advanced Backlight?

Help!

(Thanks in advance...)

Re: Advanced Backlight: why no screen rotation?

Yes... several times LOL. Absolutely nothing?

(by reboot you mean just turn it off / on w/ the power button? Or am I supposed to do something more?)

Re: Advanced Backlight: why no screen rotation?

is your device an n810? you could check if all of the packages were installed properly:
Code:

dpkg -s advanced-backlight | grep Version
dpkg -s osso-software-version-rx44-unlocked | grep Version
dpkg -s kernel-diablo-flasher | grep Version
dpkg -s xserver-xomap | grep Version

in my n810 the outputs are, respectively,
Version: 0.14-3
Version: 1:5.2008.43-7
Version: 2.6.21-200842maemo1rotationfast
Version: 1:1.3.99.0~git20070321-0osso20083801rotation

Re: Advanced Backlight: why no screen rotation?

I fixed it! (Sorry I'm such a n00b!)

I didn't realize there was a difference between holding down the power button and hitting it once then clicking "Switch Off" - I thought these did the same thing, but apparently not.

Aka I have screen rotation now! :D
