Is There Any Text to Speach Functionality (where it reads to you)?
Just wonder if the little thing could replace my laptop in that regard.

Flite is the text-to-speech package. Try a search -- there's already at least one thread.
http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ighlight=flite Don't think it's available for 2006 yet. |

None. Or speech to text. It's a shame.

I would love to see text to speech functionality integrated into fbreader. I could have it read to me while out and about walking and while stationary could switch to plain olde eyeball mode.

Ah the wonders of the web - http://translate.1888usa.com/ translate to a wav file courtsy of AT&T - you can even choose the accent US or UK M/F and other languages - this link co-hosts with the google translator so you can translate and then hear the speech - useful nes pa. :)

Well, kismet will also use it in theory. And, if you're cool, you could run it at the command prompt. No "assistive tech"-type screenreader yet, though, that I know of.
