Tilt Sensor Add-ons for 32GB SD adapter for N810 Mod
Add on for the 32GB SD Adapter Mod that is already available
http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=23205 For every one who purchased the 32GB SD adapter with the metal door, I am now designing and building the other add-ons I promised. These additions would require you the remove the extra holder stuck to the inside of the metal cover. This add on will stick in its place. It will add to the Tablet, Tilt Sensor, Accelerometer, IR Transmit, IR Learning and IR receiver. This part will also have a expansion buss for additional features in the future. There will also be 2 additional features that I do not want to reveal right now that will change the way the tablet's touch screen works. I am starting this Thread to see if there is any interest from those who can write software to incorporate the new added features into their programs? I am also looking for programmers to work for me to write new programs for the tablet that would change the way the tablet works in everyday use? Any one who is interested can send me a private mail or contact me at cgraves256@optonline.net. The features of this mod will make for interesting software enhancement for the N810 tablet. I will be ready with the product within March or at least this is my goal. I will have the first prototypes in about 2 weeks then my software engineer will write the firmware and test the interface. After that it is up to the community to help with the software interface to programs and to the OS. We can not write programs for the tablet due to time. This module by it self will most likely work with all of the tablets but for now I am focusing on the N810. |

Well...
I'm Impressed. |
Re: Tilt Sensor Add-ons for 32GB SD adapter for N810 Mod
For those sending email asking to purchase the tilt sensor now it is not ready to be purchased. I wll let you know if you send me email where to buy it when I am ready.
Also there are still some adapters left for any one who still want to get one. Thanks for the support. |
Re: Tilt Sensor Add-ons for 32GB SD adapter for N810 Mod
For how long do you think the adapters will be available?
|
Re: Tilt Sensor Add-ons for 32GB SD adapter for N810 Mod
Personally, if you made a Tilt Sensor + IR Blaster at a reasonable price and size, I would defiantly buy one. Much more appealing to the "inner hacker" than the card adapter. Can't wait.

Re: Tilt Sensor Add-ons for 32GB SD adapter for N810 Mod
Can you post some details about the components that you'll be using? If the manufacturers are open source friendly, and already have GPLed drivers, it should be a breeze to make the hardware accessible under maemo or even android. I'd be interested in one even if few apps make use of it - it'll be an awesome mod to kill time :)

Re: Tilt Sensor Add-ons for 32GB SD adapter for N810 Mod
I'm curious about where the IR will be and how strong. I'm not an IR buff, I don't know much about IR at all. Are all IR emitters and receivers the same? Would it be possible to program it to control a TV for example?
Essentially what I'm asking is, given some fine programming plus your IR/tilt/more pack, could I turn my n810 into something like: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Harmo.../dp/B000II6YEA, or is there a hardware reason why the IR components you are talking about aren't capable of such a feat? |

Yes you would be able to control say a TV or audio system directly from the Tablet. I am an IR expert and if the programming is done for the Tablet the IR will transmit as far as you would like it to, say 50 to 60 feet. I make some of the fastest transmitting and longest distance IR in the world. I also make IR transmitters that will even work in sun light. The IR transmit and receive will be the easy part. It is mostly up to the community to make the control programs. The codes and learning of the IR is stored in the module. The IR portion is controlled with hex strings similar to sending and receiving to a serial com port. Thanks |

I guess, the Irreco app could be bent a bit to make the IR work...

Re: Tilt Sensor Add-ons for 32GB SD adapter for N810 Mod
At the end of the 'Mephemeris' thread (http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=19545) there has been discussion of how neat it would be to use an electronic compass and accelerometer in the context of an astronomy app.
So...what are the chances of ever getting a compass device as well? Also, is this fancy stuff *only* for the N810, and not the N800? |
Re: Tilt Sensor Add-ons for 32GB SD adapter for N810 Mod
What about this? Not sure what the dimensions are, but this will convert the N8x0 to a phone:

Re: Tilt Sensor Add-ons for 32GB SD adapter for N810 Mod
2ioan. Dimensions: 1.75x1.75x0.275". Is there anything that can't be done with a bucket of spark fun parts.

I did not look into a compass but with the one wire buss it is possible. With the n800 the software would be the same but I would need to have a power connection and a cover for it. If it works it would be able to be used with either tablet. To develop it for the N800 I would need to have a lot of interest and support. Thanks |

They have some interesting parts. This module is too thick for the current metal case. I also saw this type of product at the CES show last month. Some were even smaller than this with the sin card holder. Thanks |

There would also be a emitter in the landscape mode so the keyboard can also be used. The is a easy feature. With this part of the mod the tablet can be made into a very sophisticated home automation remote control but as I said the software is not my department. Thanks |
Re: Tilt Sensor Add-ons for 32GB SD adapter for N810 Mod
I recently added a rotory switch to the left side of the case. This is the type that spins and pushes in.
There are another 15 switches in the design but I have not figured how to install them for the N810. They are for another application for the same mod. I think I can give access to 4 of them on the N810tablet. They would be good for extra remote control hard keys |
Re: Tilt Sensor Add-ons for 32GB SD adapter for N810 Mod
I would be interested in the mods you're talking about. Funnily enough I've often thought it would be nice to have a rotary switch on a corner of the device, for one handed holding+scrolling.
Im looking forward to seeing what you've come up with. |

When reviewing your plans I for the first time almost wish I had an N810 and not just my beloved N800.. :D

Re: Tilt Sensor Add-ons for 32GB SD adapter for N810 Mod
While I'm not a full-time programmer, I was planning on - if a tilt sensor ever appeared - trying to hack together a script that would auto-rotate the display, iPhone style.
Might be beyond my strength, but I won't know 'till I get the chance to try. ;) |
Re: Tilt Sensor Add-ons for 32GB SD adapter for N810 Mod
hello guys i bought the sd adapter just to add more memory for my music and video. now the tilt sensor add on is in the process what is the advantage of this? is there any application or games that can work with this? can any body tell me or explain this (Tilt Sensor, Accelerometer, IR Transmit, IR Learning and IR receiver.) sorry guys im not smart at all but alot of people are interested.

Re: Tilt Sensor Add-ons for 32GB SD adapter for N810 Mod
hello craves1: how long are going finish this mod? i havent heard anything about this for 1week or 2.
|
Re: Tilt Sensor Add-ons for 32GB SD adapter for N810 Mod
Not sure I'm interested personally to buy one because I'm not using my N810 much lately but seeing this realized and interest in this is nice :)

With this in mind I will make it even if no programmers writes software for the N810. I am sure after it is finished though some one will. It will be part of the products I sell through my company also just smaller. The mod for the N810 will be very small to fit under the metal door but it will be useful as a stand alone device also. As I have stated I am trying to have it finished before the end of the month. Thanks |
Re: Tilt Sensor Add-ons for 32GB SD adapter for N810 Mod
Anxious to see this come to reality... What is the accelerometer that you plan on using? Is it going to be a 2 axis or 3 axis tilt sensor?
|
Re: Tilt Sensor Add-ons for 32GB SD adapter for N810 Mod
Ok, I'm late stepping into this thread, so I'm curious, what would the tilt sensor and other mods be used for, are they all one package or separate items, and would you need the sd mod in order to use these? I'm guessing yes for the tilt sensor, but I'm not sure for the others.

Re: Tilt Sensor Add-ons for 32GB SD adapter for N810 Mod
Well I'm new here but to make it short from my limited experience here...
Tilt allows for screen rotation like the BB Storm and the Apple I--- As for the IR it allows for universal remote functionality with the proper sw and likely data transfer though the data transfer is old school... He mentions something about new screen functionality, not sure what that may be though. |

Right, but what games and/or apps can currently use it, or will at some point? The idea here is, of what benefit will it be to me?

Re: Tilt Sensor Add-ons for 32GB SD adapter for N810 Mod
enigma works with a accelerometer as shown here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fglg-MptslA

Re: Tilt Sensor Add-ons for 32GB SD adapter for N810 Mod
If you make it, I'll try to make Xournal aware of its existance and rotate the note accordingly :)

the rx-51 has a tilt sensor so its likely that fremantle itself will have support. it would be better to expect rotation to occur at the os level itself. having said that, I think other gestures would work well: etchasketch type clearing when you shake the screen would be cool ;) It would be even better to do that per app, and if you shake it too much bits of UI start falling to the bottom! :p |
Re: Tilt Sensor Add-ons for 32GB SD adapter for N810 Mod
@craves1: Can you share the name of the chip that you're planning to use? I am no coder (haven't touched anything of that sort in a long time), but I am interested in playing around with this.

Re: Tilt Sensor Add-ons for 32GB SD adapter for N810 Mod
Screen tilting is one purpose, maybe the important primary one. But there are many! It allows some games to be controlled this way. For example Neverball. I think Pandora would also gain accelerometer. Its also very useful in GPS device, and in general would open some more options for Carman. Here are many more!

As soon as I'll get my Dell mini 9 I'll install Fremantle and start porting Xournal to it and I am pretty sure I'll take a look at this option along with getting advantage of some Clutter effect (buttons that hover over the note and fade away when start using the stylus again and stuff like that). This will work the same way on Fremantle as it'll work on this mod (if it'll come out). It's just a few mode lines of code to support this particular device in the app instead of relying on the OS. :) |
