Technical Questions about my n810
 

The updater said it was going to take like 22 min. it only took like 22 seconds. I installed os2008 feature upgrade 5.2008.43-7. Was this the correct one for me to update with?

Also, I've installed skype, pidgin, maemopad+, beneath a steel sky, and the eastern us maps and on the device I have 93.4 mb available and internal memory card 229 mb available. is that normal?

How big is the update? Did it replace the old os or just upgrade it?

I've also been trying to figure out how to save images from the web.

click on an image for 2 secs, then go to image and save as.

Applications install on internal memory. So, yes, this is normal.
Use File Manager to see what's on your internal memory card.

What kind of memory card is the internal memory card? any chance of pulling it out and replacing it with a 16 or 32gb? So total I could get 48gig... that would be sweet!

It is a MoviNAND chip.

With a great deal of electronics knowledge, a hot air soldering station, a steady hand, and a heaping dose of luck, you might be able to upgrade it to 4GB or 8GB. Realistically though, you're stuck with 2GB internal.

I've got 1.83gb total on internal memory and 1.56 in use... the only software i see in the file manager on the internal memory is beneath a steel sky and maps...

Wheres all the other stuff that's installed? File manager must not show everything on your tablet...

File manager doesn't usually show any installed applications. To see what your memory is being used by, go to control panel>memory. Depending what zoom levels you saved, maps can also take up a lot of memory. Also the os upgrade you did was just an update, not a whole reflash. For me it took, 20 minutes, so I'm not sure if yours fully updated or not.

Well I'm unable flash with the nokia software. Is there any other way?

I called tech support and they told me that the update wizard doesn't "flash" the device it just updates the os... So they walked me through using it and it worked! and i looked and everythings back to factory settings and some things are gone and need to be re-installed like skype, but somehow beneath a steel sky is still there...

Can I safely delete the whole map folder and remove wayfinder from the tablet?

They're confused. Yes, it flashes the OS. The thing that "just updates" it is SSU.
