Digia @web Browser
Has anyone installed this yet...cant get it to install as I dont see it in the repositories, yet it's listed on maemo.org and has a green install button. Im hooked on tear but would like to give this a couple days in court.
|
Re: Digia @web Browser
ditto.....
|
Re: Digia @web Browser
I just disabled all repos except for the one needed by @web and it gave me a package not found error, same if I do it in xterm. I really want to try this, looks very spiffy and polished on their little demo video. I emailed their support on their homepage to see what the problem is and if they can email me the .deb (which somehow I doubt they will do)
|
Re: Digia @web Browser
The problem is that they added downloads entry but didn't put the actual .deb anywhere.
|
Re: Digia @web Browser
Im wondering if this will be a trial version, as their homepage says about the phone version.
|
Re: Digia @web Browser
I sure hope this isnt a pay app if they cant even get the damn thing out when they say its availible. I emailed them again to ask if they can just send me the .deb for it and havent got a response yet.
|
Re: Digia @web Browser
nope i can't as well
|
Re: Digia @web Browser
I tried to install it, but my internet tablet says that is impossible to find the package..
Any solutions? thanks!! |

support.product@digia.com per the maemo.org link to "Report a bug against this application." There's no reason they shouldn't get more of these emails. :) |
Re: Digia @web Browser
I emailed them, and told them the problem and got a reply the next day, then I asked if they could just directly email the .deb to me and havent recieved a reply on that yet.
|
Re: Digia @web Browser
Ok, so we must wait...
|
Re: Digia @web Browser
Ill tell ya, if a company wants to generate buzz and good business with a new mobile browser, this is a piss poor way to start things off.
|
Re: Digia @web Browser
I emailed them a couple of days ago about the problem.
First I got a reply in finnish saying "Sisällöt puuttuu" (in english, according to online translation, "content missing" ;) ), but today I got another email from their support: "We have to put the package to extras-devel because we use Qt. We are currently fixing this with Maemo.org" So let's wait and see ... Cathoagn |

Re: Digia @web Browser
Has anyone tried their Youtube browser called "@scene"? The link for info is http://www.digia.com/C2256FEF0043E9C1/0/405001937
Looks like you need to be running QT 4.5 If anyone has a video then please share the link. |
Re: Digia @web Browser
digia@web is now available from extras-devel. Note that the .install link at maemo.org/downloads does not work

Re: Digia @web Browser
I tried to install, but it gave an error of:
conflict with application packages: libqt4-test (4.4.3-1maemo0) libqt4-core (4.4.3-1maemo0) Anyone got any ideas? |
Re: Digia @web Browser
Installed fine for me (I don't think I've got those inconsistent packages installed).
But app crashed twice in a row trying to load new york times homepage. From the quick look I got, I can't imagine abandoning tear for this. But I do like the quick magnifying scroll bar on right (once you hit the icon on the bottom). |
Re: Digia @web Browser
i looked in installed apps and dont even see those as being installed

Re: Digia @web Browser
I tried to install using apt-get in xterm, said 19 mb of archives need to be d/l but whats that 32 mb about below it??

Re: Digia @web Browser
It even crashed almost immediately on a skweezer'd page. This thing blows. Why even bother releasing it?
|
Re: Digia @web Browser
@ munky261: I got the same error when I tried to install using application manager.
In a root x-term (sudo apt-get install digiaatweb), installation worked fine. Maybe apt-get is replacing some qt4libs. ( |
Re: Digia @web Browser
regarding an earlier post about their @scene youtube app, how do you even install it?
|
Re: Digia @web Browser
Tear is not using QT4 at all.
P.S. My Digia@Web installed fine. And crashed on the third page I opened in my site which is fairly simple with some Ajax. |
Re: Digia @web Browser
I cant think right off-hand of anything ive got installed that uses qt4.
|
Re: Digia @web Browser
You need to have about 35 MB of free space before installing if you don't have qt4 packages installed beforehand. Not very fast and crashing all the time.

You have some older qt4 packages installed which need to be updated. Apt is going to download 19 MB of debs which will take 32.9 MB after installing (actually less because internal flash has compresed file system) btw. I recommed that you install using application manager, because apt will cache debs to internal flash (not the 2GB one) edit: saw that you have problems with application manager. You can remove problematic packages with apt first |
Re: Digia @web Browser
Wow, what a figgin let down of a joke. This blows more than a two dollar whore having a 50% off sale.
|
Re: Digia @web Browser
Yeah, it's like expecting to get an n810 for christmas and receiving instead a tonka truck whose wheels fall off.
|
Re: Digia @web Browser
Ok, who wants to join me in writing a collective email to them to tell them how bad their software sucks after dangling it in front of our face then making us wait. Actually, i have a better analogy, its like expecting an N810 and getting a used Sony Mylo.
|
Re: Digia @web Browser
Seriously? Bash a new software developer? I bet they'll want to come back real soon. I'm all for constructive emails describing the problems you are having but I don't get the feeling from reading the posts that constructive is what you have in mind.
All IMHO. Frank |
Re: Digia @web Browser
Frank, your HO are admirable. But you gotta admit that there is something amiss in a developer whose web browser instantly crashes when loading sites like this.
It's almost as if they didn't test it on an actual device. I'm not trying to be pig-headed, but it boggles the mind why such a product was judged fit for release in the first place. |
Re: Digia @web Browser
So not a single buggy software should be ever released? I'm also against trashing a new developer, even if it is a closed one. It won't get better this way.

Re: Digia @web Browser
I think this is more like a exercise for the future tablets. qt4.5 is currently only in extras-devel and "official" support is only promised for fremantle+1 (aka harmattan).
