the killer app

Maemo mapper. The Killer App. I took it up north to the redwoods in the car...great directions...

I must say, though, back in 2005 days, HORIZON was the killer app for me.

HORIZON. Did anyone but me enjoy that beautiful graphics app??? IT KICKED ***.

Blurring of blended hues, magnification...unless you've used it, you haven't a clue-
-but if you've got the skills, could you port it for OS2006 anyways?

I just took the source and compiled it for the new OS 2006.
Enjoy!

You. are. a. god.

and I am an agnostic!!

Thank you sooooo much---

if you haven't dabbled with horizon,
try it. It's combination of color mixing, magnification, blurring, and imaging on top of images is pretty impressive!

Again, kudos sir!

May I too echo dcarter's thanks. Horizon is one of those apps that made me see my N770 in a completely new light. Too bad development seems to have stalled.
See:

And,

It' a very nice prgram, but I had a hell of a time to find out how to end it, and I'm even now not yet entirely certain that I found the right way.

Is it correct that pressing the "home" button closes the program, or am I doing something horrible to Nokillo without realizing it?

aflegg 2006-09-27 15:36

Nope, that's right.

Just install Horizon -- and start being amazed. :D

If you don't like it, you can always ditch it: it installs via the Application Manager.

schmolch 2006-09-27 18:57

cant install it, not compatible.

The ITOS 2005 version is on the homepage, to be found elsewhere on this thread.

schmolch 2006-09-27 19:07

im using 2006 of course, reflashed only 2 days ago, i tried 0.36 and 0.37

schmolch 2006-09-27 19:12

Well, it worked now with the third try, dont ask me why.
Now let me try this thing :-)

dcarter 2006-09-27 23:38

...ya gotta find the sweet spot in the "navigation" zoom function
between good resolution and zero latency draw speed off the stylus.

the whole macro/micro sketching environment is a world to its own!!

blend some colors with varied intensities and pen sizes-
this was when I knew that the nokia screen was something special...

:D

For all you guys who want to compile this programm:

Get the latest sources from http://cvs.gnome.org/ (module name is horizon)
install the Maemo SDK (Scratchbox and stuff) and compile horizon for the new OS2006.
As far as I remember, it didn't need any code modifications, just a quick recompile and packaging.

For everybody else, who is just looking for the compiled program (only version 0.36 though...):
http://pippin.gimp.org/horizon/snaps...0.36_armel.deb
