Facebook "5 Things i don't leave the house without!".

I recently used facebook to pick my 5 things I do not leave home without.

I was amazed when I typed in n810 and it popped right up, anyone else?

Haha are you asking for a list? If so it's..

Generic cellphone, n800, keys, wallet (depending on what I'm doing), headphones or GPS.

Here's my "don't leave my house without it" list:
  • pair of pants (or swimsuit, or boxers, or some other groin-covering)

Everything else is optional :D

For me it's foot wear. :D

You can't feel fine if your shoes don't shine.

I hear ya about the N810 image being readily available, PB...
Is it a term you use often or is it it in your profile on Facebook?

Sounds like that's a good plan.

I guess I assumed

pants/shorts
shirt
socks
underwear
shoes/sandals/flip flops

were all standard equipment not to leave the home without?

I guess thats just the conservative attitudes here in the USA.

hahahaha :D:D:D

Re: Facebook "5 Things i don't leave the house without!".

If I'm going out on a hot summer afternoon to sit in my daughter's wading pool, then I'm leaving the house with two things:
  • swimsuit
  • beer

Unfortunately, my neighbour seems to be of the pants-optional crowd, much to the dismay of his female neighbours.

And sjgadsby, don't assume that pants will have pouches that will fit an N800. Several of our European forum members have expressed concern that their pants do not have capacious enough pockets for a tablet. They seemed to be of the belief that this was a problem with the tablets.

basic cloths, wallet, n810, keys, and I try to remember shoes...
I don't usually wear shoes, but I at least try to bring them along so I don't get kicked out of stores...

Re: Facebook "5 Things i don't leave the house without!".

N800, Tocco, Ubuntu on USB stick (gotta spread the Linux love!), cash in pocket (wallet? Nah.) and most importantly, a witty geek short sleeve tee ;)

Re: Facebook "5 Things i don't leave the house without!".

My list is quite like penguinbait's, except that my first item is the N800 not N810 (and I have a different phone). But my 5th item is not coffee, I don't walk out _with_ coffee, I walk out to _get_ coffee.. preferably at a coffee shop with free wi-fi and free newspapers. Then I'm all set.

Re: Facebook "5 Things i don't leave the house without!".

apart from this very interesting discussions about pants and shoes (i guess i'd like to meet qole's neighbour... and: yes, neither the N800 nor the N810 are small enough for any of my pockets and this is a problem with the device, not with the pants...) ...

... the thing i find interesting about this thread is that there are tablet users on facebook. i'd have considered the two worlds incompatible. tablets are good, open, GNU/linux, free. facebook is evil, closed, commercial, data-mining, ...

interesting. maybe the world isn't just black and white after all?

tablet users are heavy users of google services as well...

Imho pants are overrated.

trying to keep the thread close to being on-topic. Is there an ITT, or maemo group on facebook that people on here are on? Or twitter or summat else if it's more geek acceptable!!

My awesome cusinart grinder, I just set the fine/coarse and amount of cups, then all I have to do each morning is push one button to grind the perfect amount of fresh coffee.
http://penguinbait.com/cusinart.jpg

This is a Bodum SANTOS Stovetop Vacuum Coffee Maker and it makes the BEST coffee. It has no paper filter and does not filter out all the oil's from your coffee beans. The best cup of coffee I have ever had, each morning :)

No need to leave the house to get great coffee, or a wifi signal :D

I always try to remember to leave my car behind when I enter my house.

I must say, that vaccuum brewer looks very intriguing. I've been using a basic french press with excellent results, but I'm always open to new ideas...

Of course, penguinbait, you haven't tasted the best cup of coffee of your life until you've roasted your own coffee (in a popcorn popper)*.

It's actually an awesome teapot also. Its just waiting for an absinthe concoction to be blended together....

Re: Facebook "5 Things i don't leave the house without!".

Well, to come back to the OP. Three weeks ago my #4 would have been "glasses". While Fasting in the weeks before Easter and abstaining from penguin's #5, I left them at home a couple of weeks ago. Only 15 min after I started the engine and drove to work I realized that it wasn't fog or rain that affected my view. According to the law, I am not allowed to drive a car w/o glasses. Therefore I tried to put the car in my trouser's pocket and looked forward to take a ride home by public transport. But as I am wearing a European style trouser, it didn't fit ...

So I could only rate "5 things I don't leave behind most of the time". Yet, they are quite unspectacular and from the previous post I am unsure what degree of detail is required: clothing - footwear - shoes - Adidas sneaker with red shoe-lace - ...

icke

Hm, not exactly the most active group:

"Recent news:

The first SSU Update for Diablo is out.

Firmware version 4.2008.30-2"

I just joined the Facebook maemo.org fan club!

I'm not going to join the Facebook Maemo group, my friends think I'm geeky enough already. Something funny I saw on the N810 group I just have to share:

"This Firmware upgrade can be done Wireless, but forget to backup your data first."

Forget?!

lol.
I don't really do the facebook thing much, but if I was into facebook I'd join. My friends already think I'm a total geek/nerd, so I can't really change that any more...
Although when I joined a subaru group on facebook everyone was saying "Woah, the computer geek is into cars too" ...

Seeing that this is partly a coffee thread, . . .
I once (in Germany) had only beans at home (mistake in the shop) and no grinder,
and a good friend and coffee lover came by.
???
So I remembered . . .
Put the beans between two (large) sheets of paper.
Roll a bottle over to grind them.
The grinding will be just right for cooking the coffee.
(the trad. swedish way before brewing was invented)
Boil a pot of water with enough coarse ground coffee in it till it foams.
Wait till the coffe powder sinks.
Enjoy!

My friend thought he had come to the middle of the wild,
but he enjoyed the coffee.

By the way, this is not one of my five ..etc.. things :

But I do keep mer in my N810 , also easy-mer ,
and the NIT is quite often one of the usuallly more than five.

minimum of 5 layers of clothing
scarf+mitts+hat
portable stove to maintain the temperature of my n800 in the "operational" range
pet penguin
polar bear

But now it's better: montreal is more to the south than Moscow (where I was born...)
