I had to vote for "It was way better before" (my before was the Classic theme, I didn't like the default one).

It is too hard to read for me, just not enough contrast.

I have to dig the thread when itT changed it's theme to the dark theme. If I remember right, majority never liked the dark theme. LOL. It hasn't been 24 hours. Give it time. ;)

I am just saying.

The new theme was a welcome site to maemo.org, and was an improvment.

Making this the theme for ITT is NOT an improvment over the old ITT site.

Some people will love the new theme, some people will hate it. That's the way it is with everything.

But that's beside the point. The point is, is that there needs to be options so people can use what they like. :)

It seems to load faster and appears to remove any need for horizontal scrolling while reading posts within threads.

Hey, I was proud of that theme! :D I do believe that if you are new to the forums, you would appreciate a simpler layout. Once you get used to the overall way the forum system works, you want the more complicated, cluttered, busy-looking, less user-friendly interface.

The theme appears to be fine, but I do not like the layout at all. It does not solve the problem of showing as many active threads as possible. When viewed on a standard 1280x800 display, at most 4 threads are visible. A lot of space at the top is taken by eyecandy-heavy maemo.org header. I think the design should address users' needs first and only then try being pretty.

i agree with fms, everything is horribly large - presumably for readability on mobile devices, but i'd say most people do most of their forum posting etc on a computer..... and do we really need the topic before each post? seems like a massive waste of space to me

I have to agree with the previous comments that the layout doesn't make optimal use of the screen space.
Minimalistic theme is nice though.

most of the time i read and post wiith mine tablet but the colors are hurting my eyes and the minimaliste theme don''t have some options, we are going to be used to in a couple of weeks but the colors need to be darker to make it readable on the device as well as the pc that will help a lot, apart from that i like the overall changes.

The only minor complaint I have is the wasted space in a post between the signature and the actions (Quote & Reply | ...)

1. it's just a theme. no big deal to me. all of the functions and info displayed on the site are the same. I'm thankful for that, i guess.

2. :( it's kinda screwy that there are 2 forums at maemo.org now (one under "community">"user forums" and one under "talk"). maybe i missed a thread where this is discussed....

3. :) i like how the ranking (junior/member/senior) and post count are de-emphasized, as this information is likely to be given too much attention by newbies (and others, maybe) in misguided attempts to figure out who's trustworthy.

The new layout is totally broken when using a minimum font size of 20. Absolutely terrible on my N800.

Please give us back the old classic layout!!

Yeah, the content is still being fixed up and reorganized. It should all be fixed up over the next few weeks.

My 2 cents: I find the new layout too bulky. The margins everywhere are simply too wide for comfort. Also, I find a forum's thread list extremely unpleasant to read due to each thread having the look of a distinct item, rather than the whole thing being a more traditional table.

However, I'm fine with the colors/look. Thus, I went with "I like the new theme" but with "I hate the new layout" in the poll.

I'll have to admit that at first glance the old sphincter snapped shut like a cigar cutter, but that was pro'ly just my anal retentive reaction to change... :)

Because of my resistance to change I began using the new site in hyper- critical mode. I went looking for all the reasons why I already hated it...

Guess what? The more I used it the more I liked it.

It takes awhile to get to know where things are but overall it is more intuitive and works well in both the tablet browser and with a multi-tab desktop browser.

Kudos to whoever is responsible.

BTW the layout is very similar the new layouts used by most forums these days... the difference being though is that > useful "Active Topics" side bar you see over yonder is usually filled with ads for "Hot Singles in Your Area" and "Natures Way viagra substitute". :)

No, what you mean is "the Minimalistic theme isn't fully featured". AndrewFBlack has already expressed interested in solving that and updating it for maemo.org.

Well, the thread title is "multi-choice", and depending on your UI theme, radio buttons and check boxes aren't that hard to tell apart :).
