talk.maemo.org is up

FYI, talk.maemo.org just took effect so all requests to http://www.internettablettalk.com/forums/* will now (or soon) be redirected to http://talk.maemo.org/*.

This would mean you might need to re-login due to the new domain.

There is also a chance that Google and other search engines will get confused due to the change. From experience, this can cause several problems but should be back to normal in about a month.

Thanks.

Hey, it took a while for it to propagate, but now it seems to work!

Reggie - When I am at the new talk.maemo.org link and click on "downloads" above, then click on "talk" I end up at the old internettablettalk link.

Oy, a little warning would have been nice. >,<

Ah well, at least it's up. Now all we need is the ability to use the old dark theme and I'll be fine.

Yeah, I was right in the middle of posting when you switched. So I pressed "Post Quick Reply" from internettablettalk.com and got sent to a talk.maemo.org page saying I wasn't logged in. And the post was gone. :(

But nothing, not even a redirect, can stop me from placing my virtual foot in my virtual mouth, over and over again...

The existance of "vaispy" has been posted on the forum. I have used it for maybe a year. I literally view all new posts from 5:30am to 3:30pm, five days a week. I keeps me awake here at work!

No, I'm an end user, and the forums are the best place for end users. Bugzilla is for reporting to the engineers, and they're very busy people; they don't have time (or the ability) to support end users. If I file a bug as an end user, I might make the whole system fall apart.

Or so I've been told.

I saw. That why I asked :-)

Illuminati don't file bugs anyway. They outshine them...

Thanks - all I could find is three posts from 08-28-2008, in a previous "theme redesign" topic. I'd managed to miss them...

Is it really necessary to troll with that over here rather than addressing me directly?

What's even scarier than that picture is that you still have GA's face from his old avatar!

Something I've noticed since the move to talk.maemo.org: https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4480

Hopefully something can be done about this? I find it quite annoying...

[edit] As the General pointed out... this actually applies to all of maemo.org

That bothered me too. Once I went through all the possible log ins and passwords i could have used when I created an account, I voted.

I know it has been explained to me before but I'm not to bright and I still don't get it...

Why does a Bugzilla account require a separate user name and password? It makes reporting or voting on bugs a giant PITA. Someone new to FOSS but used to the controlled marketing of commercial apps might think this was by design.

Because unified account databases are neither simple to implement, easy to maintain, nor particularly stable.

maemo.org is not a commercial product with controlled marketing, though. Progress goes in the best way the community can push it. Look at this new thread to know about the status of single sign-on and help out Daniel getting it done.
