N810 discontinued?

I've been seeing the N810 listed as 'end of life' at a couple major distributors. Is it discontinued by Nokia? Any planned repalcement?

Re: N810 discontinued?

Hoo boy! Guess you've missed some busy threads here.

Odds are it is at end of life, especially since the OS in development cannot run as-is on the device. As for planned replacement, that's been discussed heavily here and elsewhere. One may be released later this year.

I did, thanks for the update.

Re: N810 discontinued?

Nokia just recently did another production batch of them, and they have a policy of not phasing out a product until it's replacement is available. While they may be hard to get ahold of, you can still find them, and likely will for a while longer. There are a number of threads around here that list places that still have them. Just do a search for "n810 on sale".

Texrat 2009-05-07 14:57

Re: N810 discontinued?

Raiden's comment leads me to qualify mine: let's say "at or near end of life" for N810.

And not to quibble, but Nokia has allowed gaps in product lines, but even that determination sometimes depends on one's personal point of view. For instance, I don't see the N810 as the direct replacement for the N800, but I'm sure many disagree.

Well, just as an FYI to the OP, Walmart still has them in stock, and so does Amazon. I think Buy.com has them too. So you can still get them as there's still plenty in stock.

Nice price. If I get a job soon I'll have to buy a couple...

The N97 is the replacement if we think Nokia still remember our N810

How do you get that price?

I just checked Nokia USA website, backordering for 206.10$ (229.00 - 22.9=206.1)

Deal is over, it was a website glitch that was combining coupons that weren't meant to be combined.

Snap. I should have ordered when I had a chance. Oh well..

Re: N810 discontinued?

Yeah, it was nice while it lasted and people were getting the N97 for under $500 shipped. Nokia is honoring the orders placed for all devices that were ordered due to their mistake but wish I would have jumped on the N97 deal.

Re: N810 discontinued?

Hope they're still out there. This morning, I sent Nokia $250 for an N810 + tax and 3-day shipping. I'm happy knowing I'm getting the final and most refined build of a proven product -- and at half-price.

My purchase is the result of a great deal of research to replace my much-loved but aging and creaky Motion Computing M1400 as a couchtop web-browsing device. I'm ready to de-couple my computing and browsing activities, and the N810 looks just right for what I have in mind: wifi-based, full-rendering, user-friendly, lightweight, dedicated web browsing with limited bells and whistles.

I'm looking forward to sharing my experiences in this forum.

Re: N810 discontinued?

Awe, crap. Walmart is out, but Amazon has some still. Looks like they've still got between 16 and 24 spread across the sellers there. So if you hurry, you might still be able to get one. :)

I just bought mine on buy.com: $227 including tax and shipping ! Same price on Nokia USA without tax and shipping

Re: N810 discontinued?

Get one ASAP because there are asses out there who will buy 3, 4, 5 - even more at a time and screw you out of a purchase - trust me, supplies were very scarce. I went through this last year with the N800 and a year later I finally got one, albeit a demo unit (and it's solid, got it on eBay from this user who had several of them).

... No ...

I'm assuming you meant to put http://WWW.maemo.org ...

However, I was providing the link to the wiki page, which can answer a LOT of questions that new users have.

///EDIT Re. Your Edit

Nope, still wrong ;) And no, I was linking the wiki.

Yes the www was missing,

(damn you keyboard that didn't translate what I was thinking to what I meant to type but hey, we all have problems).

(that two t-shirts quotes tonight!).

The wiki is great but I would expect and hope that new users stumble across the community (http://www.maemo.org) before the wiki.

I dunno, the Users section of the wiki is where it's at for someone who just opened the box on their N8x0.

I think it's pretty implied that if you are on talk.maemo.org that you will end up looking at the main maemo.org page... maybe it's just me.

But, forgive me if I am wrong, if you bought a device and maemo.org was somehow brandished around somewhere in documentation or online discussion, I would hope the current web design would point you in the right direction; whether it be wiki.maemo.org or bugs.maemo.org, the main page should convey an easiness to facilitate the new user in contributing.

maemo.org is the most important thing Nokia has in surviving an open source push, much as http://www.android.com is for google.

I see what you are saying, and agree with most of it. However, the wiki contains (I believe) solutions to the most commonly asked questions that beginners have regarding maemo and the tablets.

And, there is no link to the wiki on the main page (I just checked ;)).

I'm more than happy to file a bug but what do you feel is missing from the maemo.org page?

Give specifics and I will push the agenda.

I mean it's fine how it is, really. I have no problem pushing the wiki link (apparently ;))

i think it is really discontinued now... Amazon stopped selling it, Newegg stopped selling it, Mobilecity stopped selling it... Bye, bye N810

internetpilot 2009-07-04 05:59

Re: N810 discontinued?

Buy.com is still selling them, though not for the price I just paid min mid-June ($179 with free shipping). It still may be discontinued, but you can still get them in a couple of places online.

jalladin 2009-07-04 08:23

Re: N810 discontinued?

I'm not sure where you looked but they still have them at

amazon: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw...a+n810&x=0&y=0

eBay: http://shop.ebay.com/items/__nokia-n...=p3286.c0.m301

general Google search: http://www.google.com/products/catal...m=4#ps-sellers

but i just bought mine from amazon for 235 which isnt to bad but i really wish i had the money when it was 199, but no worries i really wanted it. you have to actively keep looking because once i placed my order it was selling for 214 all of a sudden, so i tried to cancel the order to place one for that seller but it was already sold out so i had to go back to the original... good luck, and whether it reaches or has reached its end of life or not it will always live on here...

Re: N810 discontinued?

I just bought mine on Amazon from Electronica Direct for $270... somewhat of a hefty price, but I couldn't find it cheaper from a reliable vendor. I also bought of ton of other stuff from there, adding like $150 more to the price tag.
Can't wait... Even got expedited shipping I can't wait for it! Stupid July 4th... <_<

Discontinued means NOTHING!!!

You don't just get a piece of hardware with the N810... you get a whole community!

(I'm a lil drunk right now, so I'm feelin a lot of love for my NIT brethren :))

I'm sure my alcoholism will be fixed in fremantle ;)
