Fish Fillets

Fish Fillets is strictly a puzzle game. The goal in every of the seventy levels is always the same: find a safe way out. The fish utter witty remarks about their surroundings, the various inhabitants of their underwater realm quarrel among themselves or comment on the efforts of your fish. The whole game is accompanied by quiet, comforting music.

I made some changes to make it playable with tablets (like make it scrollable). Report if there's something wrong.

N810 users can control fish also with keyboard: a,s,d,w for big fish and j,k,l,i for small fish

It's pretty big download but data files can be installed to sd-card.

Does this work with any larger applications/games? It's never asked me before :D

At least OpenLieroX, Beneath a Steel Sky, Freeciv, Pingus, Bos Wars, Flight of the Amazon Queen, Wormux and Fish Fillets has it. There are some others too at least from qwerty12.

Re: Fish Fillets

Mind you there is a tiny potential drawback you should be aware of. If you keep music on the SD card you're installing to, you might end up listening to some game sounds in Canola or Media Player when you use random/shuffle as they have no concept of directories on cards.

Re: Fish Fillets

all of the new packages (starting from fish fillets) are going to install to a hidden directory, so they shouldn't be visible in media players

Re: Fish Fillets

Is there any way to download the deb file to my SD card and then install? Right now I don't have enough internal memory to do the current install of the game.

Re: Fish Fillets

You can browse the repositories manually and download the debs like any other debs. But Fish Fillets uses only about 1 MB from internal flash when you install data files to mmc.

Well it looks like I need some more guidance to do this install. I downloaded the following files:
fillets-ng_0.8.0-3maemo1_armel.deb
fillets-ng_0.8.0-3maemo2_armel.deb
fillets-ng-data_0.8.0-2maemo1_all.deb

If I try installing either of the first two an error message says unable to install since application package fillets-ng-data is missing. If I try and install the third, an error message says that it can't install since installation file is corrupted. Did I download the wrong deb files? Thanks for your help.

Re: Fish Fillets

Grrrrrr!.....still can't get this installed because of not enough internal memory,....and the individual deb files I downloaded to my external SD card not wanting to install (see above). :( Anyone know what the default download directory might be when you download apps and whether that can be sym linked to a directory on the external SD card? I'm running out of ideas.

Re: Fish Fillets

If you install normally from Application Manager you can choose where you want to install the data files. I recommend this method.

If you install from downloaded debs, easiest way is to install fillets-ng and fillets-ng-data at the same time "dpkg -i fillets-ng_version fillets-ng-data_version". But there isn't really any benefit from installing from debs directly.
