N800 Silicone Skin Case - I love it
1 Attachment(s)
I bought a baby blue translucent silicone skin case for my N800 for about $6 on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Silicone-Skin-Po...d=p3286.c0.m14 First I removed the tilt bracket (very tiny screws). Next I cut a small square in the side of the case so that with the case on, I can plug in the power and the USB cable. Note that there are already cut-outs for the camera, stylus, headphone and power. Also the entire back is covered. It not only protects my N800 from being scratched but also it will not slip out of my hand or out of a shirt pocket (when you bend over). Since it is translucent you can see the "D" pad and keys and also the blue alert LEDs. Attachment 3862 |

hmmm, nice?
But without your tilt, how is it leaning? |

Couple more Questions Den, cos it looks kinda useful.
how well do the hardware keys work though the silicon? How easy is it to get the N800 in and out of the case? |

Re: N800 Silicone Skin Case - I love it
thanks - may have to get one. I have always been paranoid about it slipping whilst getting it out of a pocket. Deffo worth a punt at about £3 or so.
I'll just need to find a different way of mounting it in the car, as currently I slide the stand into a slot cut into a cork sanding block which then slides into a cubby hole on the dash. |

Den,
I'm using a similar black version, but didn't have to undo the 'kickstand'...? http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2546/...8b61098d_o.jpg Protects it very well and makes for a snugger fit in padded cases. Cheers, #800 |

Hmm you didn't have to remove the kickstand? Which one did you buy? I need to get one for my tablet (it's case is getting scratched up =( ). But I don't want to remove the kickstand. Is there anyway to have a skin case and still use the kickstand from time to time?

Re: N800 Silicone Skin Case - I love it
It takes about two seconds to remove the silicon case, so you could always remove it to use the kickstand. I've had one of these cases for a couple of years (if you search hard enough, you could find messages about it) and they are cheap and work well. The one where you can use the kickstand sounds even better, but I didn't miss it that much. If you want to spend a lot more for the same silicon case, you could buy it at boxwave :)

Re: N800 Silicone Skin Case - I love it
I can't actually use the kick without removing the case... I just didn't have to unscrew it. I've actually removed the skin and used it as a 'non-skid pad' to kickstand the N800 on during a plane trip. When I first got the skin, I contemplated a few custom cuts here and there to allow for stand to flip out, but decided against. Might be worth a try if you are getting them for around 6 bucks!
Protection, Grip... good stuff. I had a similar set up on a cell phone and might warn against dusty/sandy environments... can 'trap in' sand. Take one tablet in the morning, #800 |
Re: N800 Silicone Skin Case - I love it
I got my (pre-owned) second N800 with one of these. The lack of access to the ports and kickstand drove me crazy so I took it off for good.
I guess to each his own, eh? |
Re: N800 Silicone Skin Case - I love it
I have the exact same one as you Den. I love it also.
