Ecoach

I have a suggestion for Ecoach which I have not seen mentioned elsewhere. Not sure how active Ecoach is though these days, although it looks great.

Would it be possible to have an option where you could view live data, comparing with a previous workout over the same route in real time.

I use Nokia sports tracker, but am probably going to pick up a N810 while they are so cheap, and really fancy running this app as well, this added functionality would be really great though

Hello
eCoach now uses new map widget which allows all kinds of new features. Adding previous route for comparison could be implemented someday... but for now im still concentrating on getting all basic features in place for Fremantle version of eCoach.

I wont be continuing support for legacy versions of eCoach, so i suggest you to wait for new maemo device when it someday comes out :)

Or maybe fremantle version of eCoach can be run on Mer, i dont know...

I'll make a suggetion here too. I have been using the eCoach a bit recently and it's great but I miss a delete event option and the record/pause button is almost identical in color when they are on/off so I would prefer if the rec button was red or something when recording.

Im still hoping for some kind of offline mode so it can save my data without a map or download maps to save to the phone for later use.

I started a brainstorm thread about it since they seem to push for every idea to be posted to brainstorm here.

The next less important thing would be some kind of export function so I can share my maps w/ tracking with friends online or keep a log on my computer.

This program may allow me to accuratly map out or mountain bike trails something I have dreamed of since the first day I rode them, but for now with no kind of internet service on my device I cant even use it :(

I had an app for my Android phone which would allow you to race against your previous workouts over the same route. It would speak to you every couple of minutes and tell you how far ahead or behind you were and give your total distance. This would be a fantastic feature to implement if possible as I'm sure that I'm not the only one who needs a bit of competition when running.

A more basic but similar feature that I'd love to see would be the ability to either set a distance/time goal and have some kind of alarm or something. Although I would imagine that tycho's idea could incorporate this idea in it.

Any sort of notification system that would free me from pulling out the device and looking at it would be awesome. Keep up the great work!

Yeah I second that, I'd love an alarm feature, or even the ability to set 'splits'

so if I set splits at 1k, it would add a time stamp to the run record everytime I completed 1k, or if I set a time (5mins for example) it would add a distance stamp to the run records.

That would be awesome for tracking specific splits, and also for when I do longer runs but only want to know how fast I did say the first 5k.

eCoach is a fantastic app. Thanks for it!

I have one bug: the "Save as default" checkbox seems to have no effect on the N900. My main sport is cycling, but if I select cycling and "Save as default", the next time I launch it's still running. Fortunately, that's a minor nuisance.

I'll second the request for a clearer "currently recording" indication. My suggestion is to not only switch to red, but change the button to a square "stop" icon. I lost a training session today because I didn't realize my button push hadn't worked.

One other thing I'd love: at least on the N900, the GPS reports the horizontal and vertical error in every sample. I'd love to see that make it into the XML output. That way, when GPS errors suddenly make it appear that I've climbed 900 feet in 5 seconds, I could programmatically discount that rather implausible event.

If you have a read of the active eCoach thread you will find this has been reported.

Mods please can you merge this

Mods, I'll go one further. Can you merge this, close this thread, and insert a link to the "proper" thread? I have to confess that although I tried, it's hard to find the correct thread for posting eCoach bugs/requests.
