Linux Multimedia Studio with Easy Debian?
hi everybody
im trying get sound work for linux multimedia studio on easy debian. but there is a problem. everytime i set sound driver to alsa it says changes will take effect after restart. but it is removing all settings back to default after restart also it was giving error about permissions writing /home/user/.lmmsconfig.xml file but i fixed it by permitting all users to write read and execute. im sure this software would amaze lots of people. please share if you have any idea. lmms is sort of a fl studio port for linux everything works but we need to fix sound |
Re: Linux Multimedia Studio with Easy Debian?
nobody interested?
is it that hard to find something to write? |
Re: Linux Multimedia Studio with Easy Debian?
Lmms does work under turbo easy debian. It's a bit slow though.
You need to install alsa as described in this post : http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=290 You might need to copy some libasound_module....so files to your easy debian filesystem. Then you must set the audio interface to alsa and device to default in lmms. Restart lmms then you're done :) I think most audio apps will work under easy debian once you've set up alsa. Hydrogen does run also. |
Re: Linux Multimedia Studio with Easy Debian?
I seriously thought I had fixed all of the alsa stuff in the new image. I'm sorry that you still had to do all that. New versions will fix that, I promise.

Re: Linux Multimedia Studio with Easy Debian?
I'd be interested to know if anyone's thought about porting freej (http://freej.dyne.org/), EffecTV (http://effectv.sourceforge.net/), etc over to the N900.

A few of us are trying to get LMMS to work on the N900. http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=32732 It runs but can't work out how to get sound. I can't even get sound in E.Debian at all (ALSA mixer gives an error message if I open it - but I don't even know what ALSA mixer is meant to do). Are the above settings for N810 version? Tried to power search + follow the wiki page instruction (which I just can't work out) - no real luck. I'm a basic (very basic) user but willing to give it a go to make things work. BUT Is there a risk of bricking the phone (as it is my only phone) if I start messing about with the settings? |
Re: Linux Multimedia Studio with Easy Debian?
@FreeKick
I don't think there is a chance of bricking your phone as long as you ONLY play with the easy debian setting but you might muck up easy debian |
Re: Linux Multimedia Studio with Easy Debian?
I was also playing with LMMS under Easy Debian.
I managed to get sound sort of working using pulseaudio backend. And when I say "sort of", it's because like if I choose an instrument (one of those .ogg ones), sound works. But then if I try to load one of those demo projects and play it, it becomes sooooooooooooo slow that I can only hear garbage or noises. |
