1GHz X86 CPU 1024 x 600 screen resolution SD Battery life is only about 4 hours but i always have AAs on charge so I don't mind swapping them out. Especially at this price. |

Also, it could be interesting if you can swap out one battery at a time and keep the device running .. |

But the Spec sheet I linked to is for the edubook notebook, sorry for my mistake by being overly hasty to share the news. I have edited my post to remove the Spec sheet link so as to spare new readers the pain of working out what was meant. |
Re: $300 9" tablet runs Ubuntu Linux on AA batteries
OMG.... I think I'm in love. I was just stating over on the pocketables site that I wish the SmartQ/SmartV came in a 9" or 10" tablet ... this thing has an awfully big bevel on the bottom side, but other than that ... *love*
I think I know what's going my Christmas wish list... |

Quite possibly the worst industrial design I have ever seen.

I think that'd shape up to be a perfect mobile gear arrangement for me. Just waiting for the AT&T version of the Mifi to be announced :-) (well, and for the various products to get from "announced" to "shipped"). |
Re: $300 9" tablet runs Ubuntu Linux on AA batteries
Looks very promising, will follow it.

Re: $300 9" tablet runs Ubuntu Linux on AA batteries
I've been following it since it first was announced. And unless I get a hands on look a this at CES, I likely won't touch it myself. Not impressed enough to bother with it.

@Rebski:
lol , just saw its picture on engadget and since then I had a panic (worse than kernel panic) to find my way back here and correct myself :P ,still I am glade that you edited your post. Other than the *lil* kernel panic , your apologies been accepted ;P @JayOnThaBeat: yup, you are right @allnameswereout: The answer is definitely yes , unless the 3 USB ports were meant for charging it :P |
Re: $300 9" tablet runs Ubuntu Linux on AA batteries
I only see the specs for the 5.7 inch tablet PC they have on their website. Have not seen this device reviewed or demoed.

Re: $300 9" tablet runs Ubuntu Linux on AA batteries
Good luck getting anything from Norhtec for review. They've been one of the most impossible OEM's to get review products from. :( I've tried nine times on 5 different products with zero success. Hence why you don't see too many reviews of their stuff.

Re: $300 9" tablet runs Ubuntu Linux on AA batteries
whats interesting is that at least the netbook of theirs is designed much like the touchbook, in that wifi comes from a internal usb dongle and the os is on a SD.
hell, cpu and ram is on a replaceable module... |
