AT&T Says Google Voice Has Unfair Advantage

Re: AT&T Says Google Voice Has Unfair Advantage
Heh... karma. ;)

Re: AT&T Says Google Voice Has Unfair Advantage
Pfft. Unfair advantage? You mean, "google voice is going to whip your *** and mop the floor with you because you refuse to innovate, and you don't want to, nor want anyone to force you to, so you're going to lie to everyone and ban the one app that will show you how to properly compete." That's what it really should say. ;)

AT&T isn't helpless. Their version of "net neutrality" has a lot of backing in government. That'll stop the evil Google!

Re: AT&T Says Google Voice Has Unfair Advantage
How does Google Voice have an unfair advantage? Isn't AT&T the CARRIER? Couldn't AT&T do the SAME THING and even MORE than Google Voice? ...even easier and cheaper?
|
Re: AT&T Says Google Voice Has Unfair Advantage
Well no because AT&T has common carrier rules like ISPs (you can't block service). But Google is not a common carrier.
But I really don't have any sympathy for AT&T. |
Re: AT&T Says Google Voice Has Unfair Advantage
Of course, now at&t has backed down and letting Skype, etc. work on the iPhone over 3G.

Re: AT&T Says Google Voice Has Unfair Advantage
How would Google Voice have an unfair advantage? AT&T is still providing the actual voice and data transmission... It's just the Google Voice takes over some of the features of voicemail, call forwarding, and SMS. At least that's what I take it to be. Just got my Google Voice setup yesterday and I'm still trying to learn the full capabilities of it.

Re: AT&T Says Google Voice Has Unfair Advantage
anyone here managed to make outbound calls from GV? the lil trick with the gizmo5+GV works for the inbound calls :)
I have tried using SIP discount for proxy server and it works for outbound calls but shows a completely different number :( |
Re: AT&T Says Google Voice Has Unfair Advantage
yes i have outbound call using GV, its pretty simple, but you have to have internet access. The calls are routed through whatever phone you put down for notification and when your phone ring just pick up the your phone. That's how you make a call using GV

Re: AT&T Says Google Voice Has Unfair Advantage
Hey texrat.
Been trying to use RTCOMM beta 2 as an alternative to DialCentral with my Google Voice account. Are you saying that this is possible? I have DC working fine but I have no idea what I'm doing with RTCOMM. I'm so lost. If I dial my home number, my other tablet rings, I answer that and then my home phone rings. I'm having issues to say the least. I've googled rtcomm and "google voice". I'm not finding any guides at all. Could you please advise? |
Re: AT&T Says Google Voice Has Unfair Advantage
Unfortunately I'm not the expert-- my success has been hit and miss, which is frustrating to say the least.

Well nuts.
Maybe I should go pick on zerojay then. He seems like he could be smart. :) |

i can make and receive calls. what irritates me is that when i make outbound calls some sip number thing pops up on the recipients end. How do you fix this so they know that your calling them :\
