Pidgin - Suddenly No Yahoo Contacts!
 

After using Pidgin all day at work, suddenly at home only my google account contacts work - no Yahoo account contacts. When I run Pidgin my two Google contacts are displayed and I can chat with them. All my Yahoo contacts are no longer listed and at the bottom of the screen it says "Available - Connecting". I have not changed anything, Help!

Same on mine with rtcomm installed, no Yahoo. It was working.

well, I am hoping that this Yahoo glitch will be corrected by tomorrow. I use Pidgin to chat for up to 18 hours every day. The company I work for uses Microsoft Communicator so that I can use Pidgin to chat with thousands of employees. Actually I only chat with maybe fifty.

I only chat with like 5 friends.

Now I suddenly feel so small........ :(

I think the IM services are having another IM war. Mine's been pissy lately too, but with Aim instead of Yahoo. Just give the devs a little bit of time to patch the issue, then update and you should be fine.

Traditionally, those CN servers are updated later, after the US servers.

I am using the chinese trick with RTCOMM as well. With an edited host file.

I will be running Pidgin all day today (at least Google works). I will let everyone know when (or if) the server is back on line.

Yep, still getting no response.

But hey, it's not like I have an insane amount of 50 friends like Den has so I have no problem waiting for a fix. :)

Remove "cn." in the edit account option so your pager server reads "scsa.msg.yahoo.com"

It's back to being good to me. :)

This works for Pidgin but what about the RTCOMM Yahoo??? This doesn't fix it.

will there be any specific Yahoo Messenger build for Maemo?
I find pidgin is always having problem when yahoo upgrade their messenger to another higher version. It is either really hard connecting to the server or unable to login at all.

Anyone not able to connect to Yahoo! IM server in RTCOMM, follow the guide I had posted some time back (link in sig) and follow the directions for editing the HOSTS file, only replace the IP and Pager Server with this instead:

I can't seem to get my head around what that is even though people talk about it all the time.

No, actually, I don't use RTCOMM, I use Pidgin and only MSN on it, but I worked on getting the guide up for everyone to use because it would have been a shame for Yahoo! users to not be able to chat on the tablet.

Okay, I'll do what I can in the next couple of days, but I've been a bit busy, so I'll see what I can do.

Jesse, I wish that would work but still getting the network error on my n810 with those numbers in the hosts file. Danr it I was hoping that would work.

Nah, it's not Pidgin. It's just Yahoo be a bunch of jack***'s again. Then again, I think all the IM providers do that from time to time anyways just to keep people on their feet. Either that, or force their users to upgrade to new spyware and vulnerability laden versions. :rolleyes:
