Emulators and game recommendations - Diablo OS

Just a thread for any gamers out there.
If you use any of the emulators and have found any great games that runs well on your NIT do list them here )

If you have any issues with a game/emulator post that as well and maybe someone have a solution.

My small list:

Emulator: VGBA
Games:

- Final Fantasy I/II
Runs fast and looks good.
Sound is choppy though.
Great classic FF intro games

- Advancee War
Graphics looks great and plays well.
Some hits and misses when it comes to it remembering your saved game.
Music is VERY choppy and slows down the game a lot. Turn it off and the game runs much better.
Love this strategy game.

- Baldur's Gate 1
Looks and plays amazing. A total thumb-wrecker though :)
Me, I can never seem to be able to kill the first boss...get him to 40% maybe. Bah.

Emulator: Drnoksnes
Games:
- Chrono Trigger
Often rated as the best RPG ever released on the SNES.
It sounds and looks awesome but the non-full screen is, for me, a huge minus compared to how the vgba roms play.

Games I have issues with:

- Fire Emblem in VGBA. Crashes during the first fight.
- FF VI in VGBA. So slow its unplayable

Re: Emulators and game recommendations

Emulator: mg

- Sonic The Hedgehog 1
Works quite well, but controlling Sonic with the accelerometer isn't easy at first. Tap screen to jump.

- Sonic The Hedgehog 2
Works well like part 1.

Emulator: vgb
- Final Fantasy III
Looks like it's working (I didn't play much), and the onscreen controls are OK for playing the game.

which games do you think will be well playable/controlable with either the keyboard, touchscreen/accelerometer/keyboard?

If you read above this thread IS for listing games, run under emulators, that either runs really well and are good/recommened - or if someone have a particular issue with a game/emulator.

Re: Emulators and game recommendations

Any reports on MAME, Final Burn Alpha or Turbografx?

My Dash and G1 (between the two) plays these fairly well (Turbografx on Dash is perfect).

I would expect the N900 to perform very well with these, since Pandora and PSP do. The games will not control as well or course, but they should play as good with full sound.

.... Why use the accelerometer? Apple device you have no choice, but the N900 has the keyboard (of course).

I have used the ines emulator to play all the classics including contra, battle city and road fighter. Brings back such memories.

I downloaded the roms from [link removed]

Re: Emulators and game recommendations

Ah, ... NIT, now i understand :) Sorry for that dumb question. I would be shocked when the N900 wouldn't emulate gba nearly fullspeed, vbag did that almost good on my E71. :)

Games i will play on my N900 are:
- Final Fantasy IV, V, VI, Tactics Advance
- Golden Sun I & II
- Yoshi's Island
- Rayman 3
- Dragon Quest III, V, VI
- Black Hawk
- Chrono Trigger

So much to do, come on N900 :-)

Re: Emulators and game recommendations

I just started a game of Phantasy Star for the sega master system. It's a nice slow RPG that's well suited to the tiny d-pad. I loved it when I was a kid, but never finished it. It's still fun. Only problem is that my save got lost somehow after about 4 hours. I don't get that.

The best game in human history is Super Metroid for the snes, but it's way too fast for the small d-pad, and remapping the buttons would be very confusing. I'm not even going to try.

My list of games to try on the n810:
Pacman2 SNES
Zelda oracle of ages -GB color
Zelda oracle of seasons -GB color
I may try metal gear for the NES that seems slow enough
I'll also try Wario World2 for GBC, but I bet that's too fast too.

While I love Super Metroid and still play it a lot, I can't accept it as the best game in human history, especially when I ended up beating it in 2 1/2 hours on my very first playthrough. Other than that, great game.

Of course not. It's well established and clearly evident to everyone that FFVII is the greatest game ever created in the entire duration of human civilization.

right? :D

Then you have to name a better one, so I can go try it. :D

Pathetic Afirmation.
What is so awesome in a game heavly censured (all versions of FF in english are censured)

Try playing
The Legend of Dragoon, Persona 2, Star Ocean 2 (psx)
Star Ocean, Rudra no Hihou, dark law, Magna Braban - Henreki no Yusya (snes)
Sora no Kiseki, legend of heroes 1-3 (psp)

About VGBA, VGB, iNES, MG, fMSX, Speccy, AlmostTI, ColEm, SlideRule:

Folks, you will never see these emulators in Maemo Extras if you do not vote for them. So, please, go and vote for the latest packages here:

http://maemo.org/packages/repository...xtras-testing/

Each program needs at least 10 votes to advance into Extras.

You have an N900, pokey? If not, you shouldn't be voting the packages up unless you've tested them on the actual hardware.

No, I have the n810. I didn't see anything on that page about maemo 5 or n900. How can I tell the difference? Can I remove my votes?
