Connect Playstation 3 DualShock controller to N900?
Would it be possible?
Saw the Wiimote connection to the n900 video where a user was playing Snes. I think it would even be cooler if the ps3 controller could be connected via bluetooth:) Raptor |

Re: Connect Playstation 3 controller to N900
:( so I have to buy a wiimote without having a wii :(
another question I remind that the SNES Controller has 6 Buttons...and the wiimote only 2, can I use the wii classic controller with full button support? |
Re: Connect Playstation 3 controller to N900
Wiimote has much more than 2 buttons.
A, B, 1, 2, Home and directional pad. |
Re: Connect Playstation 3 controller to N900
thats right...but I think the buttons 1, 2 and home are located in the middle of the controller like the start and select buttons on every other controller. so they are not useful when you are playing

http://kernelreloaded.blog385.com/sadrzaj/wiimote.jpg Buttons 1 & 2 are the ones you use when holding the wiimote as a game pad. Buttons A and B are used when you hold the wiimote "normally", B is located under your index, like a gun trigger. The A button is still easily accessible with the thumb that controls the directional pad, easily imaginable for "special functions". One question though: Most games get around the number of buttons and their disposition by either simplifying the layout or adding additional features (pull controller up, shake, etc). Is this not good enough for SNES games? |

Re: Connect Playstation 3 controller to N900
This link MIGHT help get us closer to being able to use Sixaxis/PS3 controllers wirelessly with our N900s.

Re: Connect Playstation 3 controller to N900
Man, where has the world gone. People want to play games on their phone through a wii mote or playstation 3 controller...
|
Re: Connect Playstation 3 controller to N900
why can't you just use a bluetooth mouse with games on the N900?
|
Re: Connect Playstation 3 controller to N900
That would have been great when i attended a conference last week four nights in a hotel with nothing to do. I would just need the video out and my Sixaxis and I would have been set.

Re: Connect Playstation 3 controller to N900
Hmmm, I have an exernal bluetooth keyboard - are keys in Maemo emulators usually completely user-mappable? If so, I'm guessing a keyboard should be usable for playing as well, or not?

Also a friend of mine is taking a closer look at getting the Sixaxis to work on the N900. |
Re: Connect Playstation 3 controller to N900
Sounds good :D
|
Re: Connect Playstation 3 controller to N900
In answer, you SHOULD be able to use the classic controller addon for the Wiimote but I have not see anyone confirm the SNES emulator was actually compiled with support for it.

Re: Connect Playstation 3 controller to N900
According to http://www.pabr.org/sixlinux/sixlinux.en.html pairing with a sixaxis wouldn't be a problem as you can type any bluetooth address (ie the N900's) into the pairing process on a computer. Hopefully it will just be a case of compiling a patched hidd and the joydev module if it's not included.
This might be good for emulators on the N900. I was considering a zeemote, but a ps3 controller would be better in many respects. Are there any other decent bluetooth gamepads? (not that MSI one that splits and holds a portrait phone in the middle) |
Re: Connect Playstation 3 controller to N900
In talking to my friend, he came up with this possible solution to getting PS3 controllers working by Bluetooth: http://brnz.org/hbr/?p=378

Are there drivers for DS3?
DS3 = DualShock3
The wiimote is supported, and there are drivers for the DS3 available, so is there one for the N900? |

Re: Are there drivers for DS3?
I am more interested in Xbox360 controller. Is it possible to see something in future regarding this controller?
|
Re: Are there drivers for DS3?
I don't know anything about newer consoles, but if they use Bluetooth for communication then it should be possible. Wiimote does. A quick google shows that Xbox360 wireless control uses 2.4GHz, which is in the range of Bluetooth. Whether it actually uses Bluetooth, i don't know.
If it's a proprietary wireless protocol then probably not. If it uses Bluetooth, it's probably only a matter of time. |
Re: Are there drivers for DS3?
I found that :

Re: Are there drivers for DS3?
One problem is that all PS3 controllers require a USB handshake for pairing, so until we get USB host mode or some other workaround is found, no DS3. Makes me sad since I have 3 DS3/Sixaxis controllers :/

but DS3 is bluetooth, and as it already works easily for computer already (all you do is plug in controller and download the driver) i'm sure you could trick DS3 to work for the N900 |
Re: Connect Playstation 3 controller to N900
How did this solution go? Did he have any luck with the ps3 pad?
As above it would be awesome for hotels rooms etc while away on business. TV out, a sixaxis and the n900 :) |
Re: Connect Playstation 3 controller to N900
for nes-games, a wiimote is perfectly fine, as it has a near identical button layout that the original nes-controller have.
for snes-games however, a wiimote alone is not enough. if you connect a nunchuck to the wiimote, will it work on the n900? that wouldnt be a perfect solution (button layout-wise), but at least you could map the buttons in a way that you could use all buttons needed for a snes-game. (ie analogstick as dpad, c and z buttons as L and R, and the dpad on the wiimote working as a/b/y/x for example) btw it should be possible to make a classic controller work on the n900.. .that would be the PERFECT solution for snes-games :D |
Re: Connect Playstation 3 controller to N900
The problem with the classic controller is that it needs a wiimote as well, which is fine but I would prefer a single unit if possible. Reading through that blog it sounds like it should work. He didn't have an n900 to test it on however. Mine should arrive in the next few days, so I will give it a go then.
Does anyone know how the normal sixaxis driver works on Linux? Does it map keys or something? |
Re: Connect Playstation 3 controller to N900
My n900 doesn't arrive until wed the 9th.
I will try this on the weekend when I get some time. I have an extra sixaxis laying around. hummm...what about the rumble pack? ok now I am stretching it a bit but hey you never know. Also I am brand new to linux, did some c++ back in the day but very rusty to programing in general. But that's the beauty of this phone, learn a lil bit and a whole world of possibilities open up. |
sony ps3 controllers
has anyone managed to make any of the Sony PS3 wireless controllers work in any way?
I know the bluray remote is bluetooth, which would be interesting to use as a media remote (you can buy them for less than £15 i.e. US$20 these days), but I would also be interested in getting the game controllers work too especially with the dualshock3/sixaxxis accelerometer features! |

Re: Connect Playstation 3 DualShock controller to N900?
Hoping to contribute to this, i bought a bluetooth dongle (MSI micro) and dualshock controller ("Wildfire" brand - buttons a bit hard to press-down)
I downloaded the sixaxis.c pairer and read all the howtos i could find. After fixing some driver issues, i managed to scan and detect the controller, and also see it appear as a /dev/input/js0 while connected via usb. However the pairing itself doesn't work. Either 1) After pairing and removal of cable, controller flashes red (error code) and /dev/input/js0 disappears 2) After pairing and removal of cable, controller does not flash, and /dev/input/js0 disappears I'd appreciate if anyone could post a howto for a succesful pairing on a real linux box. Once this works, I might be able to modify sixaxis.c to get the data from the controller and send it to a process running on the N900, which then executes the pairing as if it were a bluetooth dongle on the host PC. thanks |
Re: Connect Playstation 3 DualShock controller to N900?
What about the MSI contoller for mobile phones?! Meant to work on all phones and N series!
I found it on ebay and my mate has one that works on his Nokia 5800. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MSI-Bluetooth-...ht_5817wt_1165 http://www.mobile-review.com/pda/rev...mepad-en.shtml |
Re: Connect Playstation 3 DualShock controller to N900?
i´ve got one of these MSI Controller for my old HTC
They have a awful delay and I use it only once. For someone who wants to try, it uses Bluetooth Serial Port Profile I dont know much about it but it should only be a remap thing |
