Who is working on Apps for the N900
Being a newbie to this forum (mainly due to the N900) and thinking this is the main community for the Maemo OS (be it 4, 5 or 6) where all developers reside.
What i would like to know is what applications can we look forward to when the N900 is officially available. In other words who is working on updating / making an app available for the N900 and what is the app. It would be nice to know which apps we can look forward to. thanks. |

You can see some of the popular ones and commercial apps coming here:

I'm working on getting scdataviz finished, and making gnumeric work on it (and updating the port).

Re: Who is working on Apps for the N900
Reggie,
thanks for the link i browse it everyday for latest updates, however my understanding is it gets updated once the app is complete. the direction i propose for this thread is for apps which developers are working on but people are not aware of. 2 reasons 1 - people can see what apps are in the pipeline 2 - could prevent a lot of "... that app is available for the Iphone but not for the N900" |
Re: Who is working on Apps for the N900
i made some initial work porting Stellarium, but since the device is not out yet, i don't know if there will be any usable port. At least in scratchbox it is painfuly slow!

Re: Who is working on Apps for the N900
If somebody would donate an N900, I'd be more than happy to work on many apps! ;)
I'd love to get mSideShow on one. |

I hope to use your app with a new Nokia Booklet 3G soon and will give plenty of feedback then... and btw, if you happen to to see a couple of donated N900's, could send one my way please. :) *** And Kalim13 welcome aboard... A preview of community developed/ported software that is in the works for the N900 can be found ...in the extras-testing QA queue. :) According to qgil Quote:

Unrelated; scdataviz is the SemiConductor Data Visualization program. (It can be used for more than that, but that's what I wrote it for). Probably not generally useful, but I find it nice. :) |

In general, the machine you run sbox on will be faster than the N900. Usually, much faster. If you have proper graphics acceleration it should work OK with most graphics cards. Even Intel. According to this page the Debian port runs on ARMEL. The biggest problem I foresee is making use of hardware OpenGL ES instead of OpenGL. |
Re: Who is working on Apps for the N900
You can see what is available now at Maemo 5
Stable & waiting for N900 users: http://maemo.org/downloads/Maemo5/ Testing / beta / waiting the evaluation of brave testers: http://maemo.org/packages/repository...xtras-testing/ Unstable / alpha / don't touch unless you know what you're doing: http://maemo.org/packages/repository...el_free_armel/ |
Re: Who is working on Apps for the N900
You can consider me officially working on a wallpaper management application as of this evening, for whatever it's worth...

Re: Who is working on Apps for the N900
@qgil, I think there should be a section on downloads of a coming soon area, instead of having noobs search around extras-testing etc to see what is on the way. Everyone is app-sh*t (Get it like ape-sh*t) right now for apps, and an easy to access list of apps on the way would do a lot of people (bloggers etc) who say the n900 doesn't have any apps.
